1967 Austin Additional Info:
This is a 1967 Austin Healey Sprite. It has been off the road in storage since 2003 . It was driven from Northern California to South of Tucson, Az back then. And was about to drive on to Texas when plans were changed and the car put away in storage in Southern Az. I think new tires were put on back then for the trip South. Along with belts, hoses, brakes, new electric fuel pump, engine mounts and I think a new rear tranny out put pinion as there is a cut out accesss to that .There is a brand new Bosch starter that looks just installed. Maybe after the 12 years sitting, the previous owner was getting it ready for the road again. There is also a set of Nissan 3 point shoulder belts installed. Probably a wise move with metal das, no air bags and all. This is as rustfree and nice a body as is out there. Floors, rockers, jackpoints, trunk floor, wheelwell lips, lower panels, etc are clean as a whistle. No rust. The floors are beautiful from the bottom. The rockers are like new. Looks like the car was resprayed the original color sometime in the past. Not a bad job, not a great job. It looks much better in pictures than it really is. As usual. So new paint is in order if you want to go to car shows. The soft top needs replacing, though the frame is nice as can be.Seats need work. Carpets are old and probably original. So new interior is in order. But this is as nice a base to work with as is out there. It has a fresh battery. Car runs and drives fine around the block or 2 I have driven it. Will need to gone over before long distance trips due to storage. But it will not take much at all. Brakes are up, shifts and drives fine. Stops fine. compression cold was 143-145 psi right across. No smoke. no noises. This car needs work after sitting for years. But no cutting metal, welding, patching, bondo involved. And the previous owner claims the 69,239 miles on the odometer is correct. Though I have no way to prove that, so I am saying miles unknown. Summer driving is coming up. 67 Sprites are great little cars to drive and easy and cheap to work on. And more fun than a barrel of monkeys out on the road. Great values for the money in these days of overpriced everything. Full payment within 7 days of auction end. I can get this car delivered to Long Beach shippers for $250 if you are overseas
