1958 Austin Additional Info:
This is a 1958 Austin Gypsy 4x4. It needs everything. Everything, In,out, top, bottom, side, side. You would too if you sat in a Northern California field since 1971. Like this did. In the Sierra Nevada mountains. As such, the rockers, lower rear quarters, trunk floor and some other areas have rust. But the frame is nice and clean. Pretty much as original as can be. Right down to the factory Lucas headlights. These Gypsies are neat. Built like tanks. A lot of people say better built than their cousin Land Rovers. Most everything is here. Though the front differential and one axle is not. The front driveshaft is there. as is the factory air cleaner assembly. And some other parts in a tub in the rear. After sitting, 45 years, figure on total mechanical rebuild. These 2200cc Austin engines are pretty neat. Easy to work on, easy to source parts for. Be different. Go 4 wheeling in something different. I have had Austin Champs, early Land Rovers, early Nissan Patrols, early Land Cruisers. But this is my first Gypsy I have come across. Not many still out there. This one deserves to get on the roads again. And off the roads again. But let's keep it out of the fields again. Or at least have it romping in those fields and not just sitting. . Clear straight title ready to go. .Full payment within 7 days of auction end. I can get this car delivered to Long Beach shippers for $250 if you are overseas
