This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III was refurbished by British Restorations Corporation of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 2010 and was repainted by the same shop after being acquired by the seller on BaT in July 2023. The car is finished in blue over blue leather upholstery and is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Additional equipment includes a dark blue soft top, a blue top boot, 15″ wire wheels, front disc brakes, wood veneer interior trim, a cabin heater, an aftermarket radiator, an electric cooling fan, and dual SU carburetors. This BJ8 is now offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, an initial invoice, a tonneau cover, a tool kit, a driver’s handbook, and a clean Georgia title in the seller’s name.
The car was originally finished in British Racing Green and was repainted blue during the aforementioned refurbishment and was refinished again in 2023 after being damaged during transport. Exterior details include a dark blue soft top, a blue top boot, a hood scoop, vent windows, and chrome bumpers with overriders.
Chrome 15″ wire wheels with knock-off hubs are mounted with 165-series Michelin XZX tires. Stopping power is provided by front discs and rear drums, and the braking system is said to have been overhauled as part of the refurbishment.
The cabin was re-trimmed during the refurbishment with blue Connolly leather upholstery on the front bucket seats, folding rear jump seats, and door panels as well as Wilton wool carpeting covering aftermarket insulation on the floors. Wood veneer trim accents the dashboard, and additional appointments include a cabin heater, a locking glove compartment, front lap belts, and manual crank windows.
The banjo-style steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a tachometer, a 140-mph speedometer, and supplementary gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 78k miles, approximately 400 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter inline-six is said to have been rebuilt as part of the refurbishment and is equipped with dual SU carburetors. Modifications include an aftermarket radiator, an electric cooling fan, and enlarged coolant tanks. A rebuilt distributor was installed under current ownership.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, and it is said to have been rebuilt as part of the refurbishment.
