This 1967 Austin-Healey has been in one family since new, passed down from father to son to brother, where it remained to this day.
It drives like an Austin-Healey 3000 Mark III of this vintage should, powerful in turns with copious amounts of torque coming from its factory-correct 150 horsepower, 2,912cc (straight six) front-engined layout and fabulous rear-wheel drive setup. None of today’s modern roadsters come close to the feel of the ’67 Austin-Healey 3000. It’s pure romance with a lady that can follow your tango.
Classified as the BJ8, the sound of this ’67 Austin-Healey is amazing thanks to those twin SU carburettors and large exhaust. What truly made ’67 a glorious year for the British Austin-Healey 3000 was the Mark III design, which was the most powerful and luxurious of all the Healeys. If you've driven the Spritefromthe same period, then get into the 3000 and see the difference in the way the two cars perform. Both are fantastic roadsters, however the 3000 is simply the one to own for long-term collectability.
If you’ve never driven a ’67 Mark III, what a surprise you’ll have!
Think of it like being strapped to a small rocket, a safe one. It’s tremendous fun, especially in the twisties of your favorite mountain hideaway, or out on the open road. Austin-Healey clubs are everywhere because of the popularity of the early cars, which have become true stewards of British craftsmanship, when things were forged and tooled for reliability and enjoyment.
That’s the great thing about owning an Austin-Healey 3000 from ’67. From a driver’s perspective it was the best year to own, and the Big Healey as they are called, wasn’t just about horsepower and torque. Rather, the Mark III offers the feel and input few other classic roadsters of its time matched, not to mention servo-assisted brakes brakes and those roll up windows!
It ran head-to-head with the Triumph TR3 in its day and many recall the rivilary there, yet in the eyes of some, the Austin-Healey 3000 prevailed, and does today in rising market values these Mark IIIs are seeing with Hemmings, Hagerty and other sources.
It was larger, more powerful and better behaved, although to be fair Triumphs also have their followers that are just as loyal.
Perhaps our love affair with the 3000 is due to how the factory telescopic steering wheel feels in your hands, or the way the 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive glides through the gears. Together, there is lots of driver feedback happening inside this particular ’67 Austin-Healey 3000 as is with every good example of the marque.
The 3000 model remains today a true gem for enthusiasts. It’s a perfect driver in every respect, seldom the fear of twitchy oversteer, or unbalanced shifts thanks to a lower center of gravity and motorsports like suspension, the 3000 was made for driving until the sun went down. This ’67 retains that fun to drive attitude.
While Austin 3000s like this Metallic Ice Blue ’67 with darker blue interior in this condition are seen at car shows, this particular roadster 2+2 is no trailer queen. Its a driver’s convertible that needs to see the open skies as you rally from one distination to another.
Another notable aspect of the ’67 is it became the final year for the manufacture of Austin-Healey.
This ’67 shows 39,366 miles on its odometer, has plenty of tread on tires wrapped in the original spoked wheels. The body is straight and seams are tight. It’s very factory stock with the addition of a newer stereo unit in the center console. The seating is in great shape with no visible tears or puntures, and coloring remains vivid.

About Factory Correct Cars offered by BlueChip Motorcars
BlueChip Motorcars periodically offers classic cars that may be listed as Factory Correct, or Numbers Matching. Because there are many opinions about the term(s) used to describe these types of listings, allow us to explain how BlueChip Motorcars comes to that assessment.
As you may know, depending on the source, the term “matching numbers, or factory correct,” may mean many things to many people. Purists might define it as a car with every possible window crank, dash knob or even every nut and bolt is original to the car from the time it left the production line. Although some classic cars do exist in that rare condition, most do not.
The majority of classic cars on the market were at some point in their ownership, restored or repaired with NOS parts (new old stock) or licensed reproduction parts. Whenever the information is available to us about the use of these parts, BlueChip Motorcars will gladly pass it along to the potential buyer.
BlueChip Motorcars uses the term Factory Correct or Numbers Matching only to distinguish a vehicle where the engine casting code corresponds with the VIN and Cowl Tag code. If these codes tell the same story about the car in question, BlueChip Motorcars then considers it to be a Factory Correct or Numbers Matching vehicle. However, unless otherwise stated, the transmission, rear end, and transmission may or may not be original to the car.
BlueChip Motorcars welcomes all potential buyers to verify all the information with a qualified expert. We would be happy to email you all the numbers that are obtainable on any vehicle where the term Factory Correct or Matching Numbers is used.
