1966 Austin Healey 3000 1966 AUSTIN HEALEY 3000 MKIII BJ8 PH 2 Additional Info:

1966 Austin Healey 3000 Mark III, a fairly complete car that started life in Healey Blue with a navy blue interior. At some point in it’s life it was painted white. The car hails from Ohio, and we obtained the title from 1981. It was recently purchased from the previous owner who had it for 42 years but never got around to restoring it. The 3000 Mark III Phase Two, double light version is the most valuable and popular Healey. This Austin Healey is a straight car with good panel fit and a nice grille and headlamp areas. It does have some surface rust and scaling, likely due to being stored under a carport in Ohio. One of the floors may require replacement, but overall, it’s a solid candidate for restoration. The car is mostly complete and has never been substantially disassembled.Moving to the interior, we can see traces of the original Haley Blue paint peeking through. The seats show surface rust, and the upholstery is in poor condition. The dashboard is complete, and the car’s mileage is indicated as around 101,000. Accompanying the car are extra bits of upholstery that have come loose over time, as well as a complete glove box assembly and a box of chrome door trinkets, hood latches, and miscellaneous items.Examining the trunk, we find it reasonably intact, although some rust is starting to appear in the corners. The shroud looks decent and seems to have never been removed from the car. Structurally, the car is still in decent shape, but surface rust is prevalent. This Austin Healey is an ideal candidate for a comprehensive restoration, where it can be taken apart and restored to its former glory. These cars are becoming increasingly challenging to find in this affordable restoration condition.Under the hood, we can see traces of the original Haley Blue paint mixed with layers of white paint applied at some point. The car is fitted with a 3000 engine, albeit from an earlier model, meaning it won’t be a numbers-matching car. However, it could be dressed up to achieve the 150 horsepower stage, making it a nice BJ8. The car comes with additional parts and pieces that accompany it.Overall, this 1966 Austin Healey 3000 Mark III BJ8 Phase Two sports convertible, originally finished in Healey Blue with a navy blue interior, is a fantastic candidate for a comprehensive restoration. With its past ownership of 42 years and original colors, this Healey represents an excellent opportunity to restore a highly sought-after classic.
