1987 Audi 5000 Quattro Additional Info:
This is a 1987 Audi 5000 CS, the turbo quattro model, with locking center and rear differentials. This car has a few small modifications done by a previous owner, including a mod that allows slightly higher boost pressure and an aftermarket intercooler. The car is in running and driving condition, and it is pretty fast, but it has some issues.
The main problems are that the hydraulic system leaks, so it needs to be replenished from time to time. The power steering and brake assist still work. I don't know where the leak is, but I think it may be pooling up under the driver's footwell, and water may also be entering that area. I've carried out some repairs myself over the years, but I'd like to pass on the responsibility for keeping this cool car alive to somebody else. The AC compressor is disconnected, and the AC doesn't work, but the heater is fine.
The car has power windows and power and heated seats. There is a working stereo and CD player with remote. It sounds pretty good. I've had the car since 2006. The odometer stopped working at 260,000 miles, and I have continued to drive it, but I don't have any idea how many more miles I've gone. I'd guess around 20,000 miles.
I used to live in an area with a lot of snow, and the car is incredible in the snow. With the differentials locked it's virtually impossible to get stuck.
The clear coat is cracked and looks pretty bad in some places, others still look perfect. The seats are ripped, especially the driver's seat, and the front seats came out of a '90 V8 quattro, done by a previous owner. Some of the exterior trim is worn or missing.
