1968 AMC AMX Additional Info:
This a true barn find original 1968 AMX that is highly optioned and original and unmolested. I am the third owner and have had for only a couple of years. I have a clear title in my name. This car has a lot of rare options. I originally bought her to strip for parts, but realized she is too rare and complete to tear her apart. Car has factory ac, am/fm (missing oem rear speaker and cover) tinted glass, headrests, tilt wheel, ps, power disk brakes- front, go pac 390 4 speed T-10 trans. Engine and trans are original to car. Car has Holley carb, headers and an offie Intake, but she comes with the original correct air cleaner with chrome lid. I do not have a oem 390 Intake but they are easy to find and I have someone you can get it from. Only other thing I see not original to car is an aftermarket set of underdash gauges and a Mallory Ignition system and alarm. Car has a complete rare Hurst push down shifter that was ideal at the time to replace the factory troublesome factory shifter. The tunnel was modified but parts car has a solid tunnel. Original factory locks and keys are there. This car has sat for years coming from the original owners home in Connecticut and was stored supposedly in a less than adequate pole barn with her ass end hanging out. The cars trunk floor is bad bad and will need to be replaced along with fuel tank, upper right quarter and the typical lower rear quarters. I am providing an original fuel tank, straps and bolts as well as a better rear bumper. The cabin floor is nearly perfect rustfree. I replaced the hood and trunk with solid metal pieces as the originals were bad. The originals are here if the buyer wants them. The dash is in really nice shape with one raised area. The original steering wheel appears to be really nice with a solid shroud. There is a wrap on the wheel itself so not sure if she has cracks. All ac stuff appears to be complete and there is a metal fan shroud. Grill is exceptional with only some fade and a small imperfection on the top that is repairable. Glass is solid to include original windshield. I have all of the stainless steel window mouldings as some of the clips are bad. The original tinted door glass is undamaged and goes with car, but as usual the glue has come off the original shoes and they will need to be reinstalled. The 68 comes with a solid parts car that rolls and has a complete dash, but no title for parts car. I was going to use the solid doors and trunk floor from the donor car for the restoration of the 68. This high optioned 68 needs a little more rust work in some areas but is solid in others that are typically bad. She was originally silver with black stripes and hub caps. The rims are original, but the donor car has three magnum rims. The car does not run and I have not messed with the engine or anything else except change hood and trunk. These cars are really hard to find unrestored or original these days. Only reason I am selling is I do not have dry storage and both the solid parts car and the complete are rusting, even under tarps. Please don’t send me messages that you have only a certain amount of money to spend or you should get covid pricing. I don’t need to sell her as I have a really good job. This is probably a once in a decade opportunity as all the hard to find stuff is there and there is a parts car for the needed sheet metal. The buyer will need to remove from my property within 6 months and title will need to be transferred and car insured while on my property. I currently have her insured and it is like $50 per year. I will not be responsible for her during hurricane season if she is still here, but she has survived several so far in last couple years. If you don’t want the parts car that is fine with me, but I would take her as there is a good dash and a decent 1970 steering wheel, Plus everything else. Only two cars and parts as stated included in auction nothing else. Only buyer will have access to property to view cars. Do not bid if you do not intend to complete transaction. I will Send or post more photos and answer any questions. Obviously cars are sold as is and as stated. The complete 68 will need a total restoration and has a clear title. Parts car no title. Restored, this 68 is a Rare high dollar Car.
Car has original trim tag on driver door and engine tag on chrome valve cover and vin riveted to the passenger side shock tower. The dash plaque with original number is there as well.
True mileage is unknown but I would venture to say what is on odometer is true. My title states exempt, but I have some documents that may prove for your DMV actual miles. Florida is difficult to get original miles with antique vehicles on title.
I do not see the original build sheet under the passenger seat but I heard that it may be in the back of passenger seat or headliner.
