Takes some time to appreciate this 1978 AMC Matador Barcelona coupe, because someone has been doing that all its life. These were pricey grand touring machines when new, and today, it has retained all the best features (including A/C) while upgrading all the right pieces along the way.
A good AMC is often hard to find. After all, they made so few of them there were only about 2,000 Matador coupes produced in '78, and how many do you think survived forty years looking this good? In fact, the first impression is absolutely stunning. The factory-correct two-tone red looks like a modern custom application. Of course, it also helps because of the level of gloss and great red pinstriping package. And while everything from the half vinyl roof to the badge on the hood lets you know someone cared for this correctly throughout its lifetime, there are also some great custom touches. The bulky front bumper was expertly removed so you get a clean view of the Matador coupe's unique face. Plus, the 17-inch wheels are a modern interpretation of the Mopar Rallye wheels a cool nod to how AMC ended up in Chrysler's hands.
The Barcelona special edition came with a unique interior, and so it's great to have it so well preserved today. A full-sized coupe means plenty of room for family and friends to share the special soft cloth presentation. Plus, everyone stays comfortable thanks to the factory air conditioning and an upgraded AM/FM/caste stereo (the original 8-track also comes with the sale.) And because this is a sporty coupe, you're going to enjoy features like the three-spoke steering wheel and machine-turned panel across the dash.
Another part of this sporty feeling comes from the optional 360 cubic-inch V8 under the hood. This motor was unique to AMC, so it's nice to have such an authentic presentation under the hood. There have been the right investments over the years, like a new gas tank and updated dual exhaust. But all the right original pieces are still in place, too. From the block color, to the decals, this one is presented exactly how you a distinctive car like this to be. And because the AMC V8 stayed in production well after the Chrysler takeover, parts availability should be as easy as any other American car. The V8 fires up nicely, and it produce plenty of torque to keep you going down the road with ease. Adding to this great cruising classic attitude are features like the three-speed automatic transmission, cruise control, power steering, and power brakes with discs up front.
This was the final year for the Matador coupe, and you can tell that it has always been cared for correctly. That's why the sale also comes with the original warranty card, owner's manual, and maintenance records. So with a classic that's this unique, preserved, and affordably priced, you know you need to hurry to catch this deal. Call today!!!
