1969 AMC Javelin SST Additional Info:
This 69' Javelin SST is definitely a barn find. Very original and in decent condition. Unfortunately I do not know much of the history of the car and am not much of a AMC historian. I am a huge fan of the era of muscle cars and love the look of this car. I have owned many Mustangs and Camaros over the years but never a Javelin. I have always loved the look of the Javelin and AMX. When I came upon this car, I immediately noticed the originality and the fact the car is straight with minimal repair required. It does not appear that it has ever been in a wreck. Shock towers, fenders, quarter panels and doors are straight and fit well. What I know about the car is it is a factory small block V8, automatic transmission with center console, power steering, black interior. I do not know the original color of the body. My understanding is it is a 290 cubic inch but I'm not sure how to verify the engine. At some point someone installed an aluminum intake manifold, Holley carburetor, headers and dual exhaust. After a short time of going through the fluids, adding a fresh battery and a little wiring, she fired up and sounded good. I only drove it down the street to feel the trans shift and try the brakes. The trans shifted through the gears and the brakes worked but I am sure will need to be redone. The interior is in good shape. The seats are in very good condition and really only need to be scrubbed up and wiped down with armor all. The carpet is shot but is cheap to replace. The center console and shifter is in good shape. The dash has some cracks in it. The passenger window was missing but a replacement glass is included with the car. The rear quarter panels look to be originals. The drivers side has a very small nickle sized hole near the bottom and some other small pin holes. The passenger side looks like someone started to repair additional rust spots. The doors have the same type of small pin holes but the shell is in great shape. The drivers fender is very clean and straight with the passenger fender being the only panel that has a very small dent from my son bumping it with a tractor. For the average body man, not a big deal. The rockers and jams are in really good shape. Shock towers and hood are solid. The battery tray and a spot below it is rusty and need to be repaired. The floor pans definitely need attention. Each pan has rust however are readily available on-line and are cheap. I have never been able to get into the trunk as the previous owner lost the keys. I believe the wheels are original with the original center caps. The rear right trim ring will not stay attached to the rim. I brought this 69' Javelin SST home with the full intention of restoring it back to new. I was happy to see the availability of parts and know it would be a pretty easy resto. Unfortunately I am broke and have to sell off all my cars. I will try to answer any questions. I can help with shipping for a fee. This is a no reserve auction so bid to win. Good luck.
