1962 Alfa Romeo Giulietta spider
I got this car from Matt Hamilton of giuliettas.com
https://rufushamilton.com/giuliettas/2009/04/20/exploring-the-spiders-potential/#more-3442
He unearthed it from a garage and began cleaning it up. As detailed on his blog here:
I got it from him and began doing the rust repair and bodywork.
I started on the sheetmetal in the trunk and floor panels. There is some sheetmetal that could still use replacing: the front and rear floor panels (not the middle ones) have some rust and a few “peekaboo” spots. It’s not flimsy and I was going to leave it as a “patina” restoration/ rat-rod.
I disassembled and restored the suspension and brakes. New mechanicals and sand blast and epoxy paint on all parts. New aluminum wheels. However work paused before these assemblies were 100% finished. The new owner should plan on checking and adjusting it.
I had the gas tank boiled, patched and lined. I got new fuel sender and fuel plug, I had the radiator re-cored. And I ran a truck bed undercoating on the whole underside of the car. I re-shoed the drum brakes from porterfeld racing . And I replaced all the brake lines. Hard and soft. I have a set of restored gauges that goes with the car alongside the full set that was in the car.
I had a good job at the time and I was doing checkbook restorations on 3 alfas.
I stopped working on the car around 2009. that was the year my dad died. I quit my job at Tesla motors to start my own businesses and the cars went into storage.
Stored indoors in my warehouses for the last 13 years. I just pulled it out, washed it and dusted off and assembled the suspension bits.
The gray paint is original to the car and shows an awesome original patina. I don’t know if the hood/trunk/doors are original to the car or not. But the fit is impeccable.
The car doesnt have a title. But its been out if the system for a long time.
I have loads more photos I can send on request. Luigi( at )Oldaniartstudio c0m
I am also selling a 1974 spider rolling chassis and parts.
And a 1964 giulia Ti column-shift that was restored, but then t-boned on the street. It has excellent running gear and all the replacement sheet metal.
