1962 ALFA ROMEO GIULIETTA SPIDER

A well known Vintage Race Car, known by many simply as #92 as it has worn that number for 3 decades. It was a street car until the 1980’s when it was purchased from a California Alfa shop as a rust free, accident free roller by Keith Goring of Alfas Unlimited in Connecticut. Keith first raced the car at the Grand Bahamas race and took 3rd place in 1988. In the early 2000’s the car blew an engine and sat for a while before being sold to Fred Schueddekopp in Washington. In March 2009 it was sold again and then taken down to bare metal and a total restoration. After a year, April 2010, # 92 started its second life as a Vintage Racer with a 1600cc motor. Since then #92 has raced the Northern California CSRG vintage circuit which includes Sears Point and Thunderhill. In 2012 it was converted back to a 1300 motor and accepted by the Monterrey Reunion and Pre-Reunion races (The Historic’s formerly) due to its provenance and was the only Giulietta in either race. The 1300 engine was built by Glenn Olivera of Berkeley, Ca and at the time was dyno’d at 128hp. Jon Norman Racing converted the rear end to a limited slip unit and the gearbox is a 5-speed close ratio. Instruments are both a mix of original and custom but all look correct and original. It has a roll bar and side bars for safety with a Go-Pro camera mount, a battery cutoff, fire suppression system, 15-inch Panasport Alloy Wheels with 185 x15 Hoosier Speedster Racing Tyres. Outside mirrors are Talbots and wide convex mirror in the center. It has a Sportscar Vintage Racing Association issued vehicle log book and a transponder attached for lap timing. The car is able to be driven on the street as it has working turn signals, lights and horn and has been registered in California and wears the Yellow and Black year of manufacture license plates. Considering it was painted from bare metal up in 2010 the paint still shows really well and the body shows no signs of previous repair work. Finished in Blue Medio with Black interior.
