Details:Extremely nice, original 1986 Alfa Romeo Spider Graduate. While it has the same drive train and design as the Spider Quadrifoglio and Veloce, the Graduate has manual windows, vinyl seats, and steel wheels. This Graduate was a California car from 1986 through 2018, when the prior owner moved to Virginia and sold the car. It's had 4 owners (including me) and there are extensive service records dating back to 1989, including California smog test results (last CA smog test was in 2017). Photos of all the service records are in the Google Photo album. Recent service includes:
- New Hartz cloth convertible top (May 2020 / 89,500)
- Oil/filter change (April 2020 / 89,400)
- Spark plugs, motor mounts, and oil pan guard (Sept 2017 / 84,493)
- Fuel pumps & filter (May 2017 / 84,838)
- Michelin Defender XT tires (Feb 2017 / 84,260)
The engine and transmission are both in excellent condition – the car starts easily, accelerates quickly, and shifts smoothly. All the lights and accessories work correctly, including the AC and heater (they each have their own blower motors and both work). All the gauges work, but the speedometer and tachometer need to be re-calibrated – the tachometer reads +500 rpm too high, and the speedometer shows 12 mph at a stop. I've check the speedo using GPS, and at speeds between 35 and 80 mph the speedometer is correct.
The original white paint is in very good condition, with minor flaws including a small (<1 inch) scratch on the driver's side rear fender (see Google Photo album). The seats and carpet are in excellent condition, with no tears or stains. The dash has the typical cracks around the defroster vents (see Google Photo album). All the glass and trim are in very good condition, with some fogging around the bottom corners of the windshield (see Google Photo album). As noted above, a new Hartz cloth top was just installed.
