NOTE TO BIDDERS: I just walked in the door this afternoon after putting 40 miles on the car driving twisty country roads. I'd forgotten just how much fun this thing is! Guaranteed, there's NOTHING out there in the vintage market you can pick up for just a few thousand Dollars that handles corners (with virtually NO body-roll), accelerates and cruises like this little road rocket! What a sleeper! Forget about getting your wife that inexpensive tennis bracelet or covering your kids tuition this quarter. Do yourself a favor and Invest in something you can enjoy for years to come! The description and photos below were taken and posted yesterday (10/15/17) BEFORE I'd had a chance to get out of town and see again what this splendid Italian rally racer is all about.

Here’s another rare, nice running Alfa we’ve acquired for our eBay customers. This Milano represents the zenith of what many of us consider the last “true” Alfa Romeo i.e. a balanced, rear wheel drive sports machine. Milanos were one of the best handling sport sedans of their time. Because of the rather unique configuration of engine in front and transmission in the rear of the car, a near perfect balance and neutral road handling was achieved. These are the perfect rally car! Feel free to contact me with any questions during the auction. My name is Mark and my direct number is 206/914-1173. You’re also welcome and encouraged to make an appointment to inspect and test-drive as well. As a respected Ebay seller with many satisfied online buyers, I want you to bid with confidence knowing that this Verde runs and drives as it should and is being properly represented to you!
Here’s a little Milano background info I came across while researching:
From 1987 to 1989 there were three 2.5 liter versions of the Milano (silver, gold and platinum). A fourth version – called the “Verde” for the green four-leaf Quadrifoglio emblem on the rear deck – had the higher performance 3.0L V6 motor instead of the four cylinder 2.5L. All were built on separate factory production lines. Standard features on the “Verde” included: A 3.55 limited-slip transaxle, an external body kit with fender flares, side skirts and a rear deck spoiler wrapping into the black side moldings. The model specific Recaro interior had a heated driver’s seat and all power options. Under the hood came power steering, ABS, Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection and a taller 3.55 ratio transaxle.
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION:
This car sold new back on May 21, 1989 at Exotic Motors in nearby Spokane, Washington. The original owner, a dedicated Alfa lover, kept the car garaged and pampered for 11 years before turning it over to his brother, a local club member, in 2000. It remained with him here in Seattle until two months ago when the Verde arrived at my warehouse in Auburn, WA. Along with the free and clear, unbranded title the next caretaker will receive all the original books (including an alfa road atlas, pen and notebook) stored in their factory folio. As pictured, virtually EVERY maintenance record and receipt from new is included in an inch-thick portfolio. We even have the original Alfa-branded car phone and complete road tool kit safely stowed in the trunk.
Many performance, appearance and safety upgrades have been done over the years. These include:
· Installation of dual “S” camshafts with mechanical detensioners, adding significantly to the factory 183 HP and 181 ft./lbs. of torque.
· Larger AFM and filter
· Rebuilt transaxle with new synchro’s, 2 & 3rd gears, clutch and throw-out bearing.
· Koni shocks with Shankle sway bars. Body lowered 1-inch front and rear.
· ANSA rear resonator.
· Nardi Steering wheel and shift knob.
· Reliable vacuum brake booster installed to replace the unpredictable (and, frankly, dangerous) factory ABS system – the boxed original ABS parts will be included if requested.
My un-retouched photos really do tell the rest of the story. Vehicles in the Pacific Northwest hate body rust and we find no evidence of any here! Yes, we get a bit of drizzly rain, but hardly ever any snow so our winter roads are never salted. Really not an issue with this car as it’s always been garaged and driven sparingly in good weather. Please free to climb over, under and around the Milano- I know you’ll come up smiling!
Take another good look at the interior photos. The carpets front and rear are absolutely like new, having always been covered with factory floormats. Both original Recaro front buckets are in excellent condition as pictured with no perceived broken seat springs or dissolving bolster foam. From my pics you’ll also notice the 160 MPH speedo/odometer reads less than 99,500 miles. All records point to these being accurate and correct.
Mechanically the Alfa appears strong and in good shape. Even after sitting in my warehouse for a few days at a time it’s never failed to start right up literally at the first crank – you just can’t beat these high-revving fuel-injected 3.0L V-6s! The five-speed transmission shifts between gears as it should and with a strong clutch. The brakes feel just fine to me too.
Having owned many Alfa’s over three decades, I’ve developed a great appreciation for their style and overall driving experience. I KNOW you’ll be proud to own and drive this great rally sedan.
CONDITION:
In total, this is a clean, smoke-free car. I take pride in the vehicles we sell and feel that you should know as much about them as possible. Accordingly, here is a list of the good and also things needing attention: The car idles, runs and drives as I feel it should: strong battery and charging system, no overheating, and no brake pull or alignment issues! I had my mechanic do a quick once over last and all we felt was needed was a fresh oil change. The four factory alloy wheels are straight and true. Each has a matching Pirelli P6 radial with about 50% tread wear remaining.
The only negatives I’ve come across are: The factory A/C system wants to blow warm. A portion of the sunroof’s headliner fabric is loose - I'll have it re-glued before the auction ends and I'm sure it'll turn out fine. There’s a small windshield crack about 2-1/2 inches. A number of the computer gauges blink all the time and the factory Clarion radio can be finicky. Same goes for several of the electric window lifts. I’ll include two newer lift assemblies stowed in the trunk for future use. On the good side, the power door locks work great and both the power sunroof and radio antennae open and close. The black paint is in great overall condition and still holds quite a shine though there’s a bit of lacquer checking on the hood that’s likely been there many years. You won’t find rust bubbles in any of the usual spots under the paint. The entire undercarriage is in great, solid condition for a 29-year-old car.
Please BID WITH CONFIDENCE and know that you are purchasing a nice vehicle from a respected Ebay seller. I want you to be happy with your purchase (and with me) and that’s the main goal! Please don’t be upset if I miss other minor flaws or an unforeseen problem! No used car is ever perfect. Having said that, I have every confidence in this Milano Verde and the way it drives out!
Because of the amount of money involved in buying a vehicle, I require that Ebay members with a feedback history of five (5) or fewer transactions call or email before placing a bid. If I don’t have this initial contact, your bid may be cancelled. The phone number to talk directly to me, as outlined above, is 206/914-1173. Please feel free to call any time during the auction. My name is MARK.
A Few Additional Terms and Conditions:
A nonrefundable $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of the auction’s conclusion. The balance is due by cash or certified funds within seven business days unless prior arrangements have been made with me. I can accept bank cards, but I’ll first need to invoice you and ask that you cover the 3.5% fee our processer charges. Please remember you are bidding to buy and I fully expect the winning bidder to fulfill their Ebay contract! You’re not bidding to hold or then come inspect and test-drive the vehicle later -- You’re more than welcome to do this before the auction ends.
If you decide to have thecar transported home, there are scores of companies to choose from. We ship vehicles regularly and I'd suggest that you get a transport bid from Dependable Auto Shippers (DAS). They're EBay’s preferred transporter and will give you a fair quote. Call them directly at (888) 817-6203. Give the phone rep my affiliate number (2362642) and they can pull up all our information for a station-to-station or even door-to-door quote.
For west coast bidders, we have a great hauler that delivers quickly to Washington, Oregon and California at reasonable rates.
As another alternative, you might get bids from the U-Ship.com website. You’ll be able to choose a transport broker from multiple offers. The zip code for pick-up would be 98002 (Auburn, Washington). The shipping of the vehicle and company chosen are the responsibility of the BUYER.
The Alfa can be stored free of charge at my location for up to two weeks after the auction ends assuming full payment has been received. After that period storage will be $20 per day.
