Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint / 1961 / LHD / ASI Gold / Low Italian Owners / Repainted By Specialist & Enthusiast Owned / Superb Undercarriage & Pristine Preserved Condition @ $63,995
We are truly privileged to offer to the market this original & highly desirable Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint. This is an Italian home market 1961 example first registered in Brescia with a matching numbers 1290cc motor. Having only had 3 owners from new. Being UK tax exempt & comes complete with the original Italian log book & is ASI Gold & also ACI certified.
We have just purchased it from its long term Italian owner whom is a retired Lawyer, residing in Cremona (RE). Cremona is a city & commune in Northern Italy, situated in Lombardy on the Po River in the middle of the Pinaura Padana. He has owned & cherished this splendid unmolested example for many years. Indeed this charming Sprint forms part of his personal collection of classics which reside in the basement of his property & are quite eclectic, it even consists of a Citroen Mahari.
The owner is also an avid club member & has used this stunning Sprint in several club tours & shows. He is only downsizing his collection due to his ever advancing years & increasing lack of mobility.
We got a call from his local specialist garage where he had just brought the car in for a service. Contact was made & after a lengthy & somewhat protracted negotiation lasting several months a deal was finally struck.
This is a real time warp example showing 1,889KMs & appears to have only been painted once in its life (1999) which was confirmed by the owner. Showing excellent factory correct panel fit, resplendent original interior & headlining, original motor & with no signs of rust or filler, a truly time warp, unrestored & unmolested example, it even wears its original factory decal on the windshield. The boot floor & undercarriage also look original with no patches or plates & this was one of the key reasons why we stuck at it & ensured the deal was finally concluded & this preserved example could be exported to our shores.
The mechanicals were also excellent on our lengthy test drive & the driving experience was a pleasure. It’s a low owner example & what you see with this example is what you get – It’s truly magnificent.
There were several signs of polishing wear to the paintwork & some minor storage scuffs & dinks, so we decided to give it a full external repaint to show standard once back in our workshop. We took copious pictures of the car, before, during & after, which have been colour printed for the history file.
We have been meticulous in our preparation prior to offering this exceptional example to the market by undertaking the following works here in our London workshop:
Completed a full external glass out repaint in its current & original colour to a very high professional show standard. We used premium PPG paint & products. We also took copious photos of the car at the various stages of preparation. (Before, during & after). As expected the vehicle was found to be in excellent structural condition, including the floor pans & boot floor which are known trouble spots. The boot floor presents very well today in its original form. In fact it looks as good underneath as it does on the top. The underside was also prepared to finish the package & treated to a very fine coat of spray gun applied Wurth underseal to protect it going forward for the next 56 years of its life.
We stripped the vehicle & glazing with full preparation as required of the bodywork, ready for a full prime & repaint. We are very proud of the paint finish which is to concours standard. We fitted a complete new clutch kit supplied from Classic Alfa, including relief bearing, clips, friction plate & main clutch unit at just under £300 for the parts alone. We also conducted a full engine service including NGK plugs, engine oil & filter, air filter, fuel filter, coolant change along with a full tune, just to be sure!
We also fully detailed the vehicle including a machine polish of the new glorious paintwork & fresh MOT to complete, along with re chroming the rear bumper & fitting Italian front & rear number plate holders. Fitted period correct decals, undertook a detailed interior deep clean & filled the fuel with £40 of super unleaded. This stunning car is ready to show or just use on a regular basis. It would make you proud in either circumstance. When I used the car for a couple days to ensure there were no faults, it really impressed in all respects. The car is on the button & ready to go & show or just enjoy…
The vehicle comes with a history file & contains: Original Italian log book, Pictures of ASI Gold plaque & ACI plaque, Parts invoices, Fresh current UK MOT, UK NOVA certificate, Copious photos showing car in Italy at the owners home & finally colour images of the full repaint & works we have just conducted here in our workshop.
