This rear-engine, air-cooled uni-body chassis sports car resided with the same owner for six years. The Ghia is a true German classic, and would be a welcome addition to any European car enthusiast collection.
Volkswagen capitalized on the overwhelming popularity of their Beetle by following “the people’s car” with a sporty sister: the Karmann Ghia. Produced from 1956 to 1974, the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia shared the Beetle’s reliable running gear, the response to the car’s introduction was so positive that it quickly became one of America’s most imported vehicles.
Finished in a brilliant Turquoise Blue, the finish shows well with some flaws due to age and some minor cracks in the paints visible upon close inspection. The front and rear chrome overriders fit well and finish is exquisite. All trim pieces are present and have a great finish with little signs of wear. The headlights, taillights and wrap around side marker lights are in very condition with no hazing or cracks.
Inside, this Volkswagen features upgraded black Porsche sport seats and look great. The contrasting grey door panels, carpet and dashboard are a continuation of the striking interior of this coupe and look fantastic. The grey headliner completes the rest of the interior and is in very good condition. The Panasonic stereo and Grant GT three spoke steering wheel are in very good condition.
This Karmann Ghia is equipped with a 1.6L boxer 4 cylinder engine fed by a single Solex carburetor. Power is transferred to the rear wheels by a 4-speed manual transmission. Driver assist features include front disc and rear drum brakes. The 15-inch aftermarket polished light weight alloys on sport performance radial tires are in very good condition
This Ghia will take you back to a simpler time of bell bottom plaids and platform shoes. Rarely does a transformation from peoples car to sports car goes as smooth as it has with this VW… GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
