1985 Toyota 4Runner Additional Info:

Up for sale is my 1985 4runner. As you probably know these 1985 mini trucks are very sought after for their solid front axle, strong running gear, and EFI. I have owned this truck for about 4 years now and have been building it the entire time I've owned it. Its been my daily driver as well as overland camping / offroad trail truck. The best part about these 4runners in my opinion is the back seat folds flat and you can sleep in the back. Mobile tent! I ran the 22re for about 3 years but one day driving back from North Carolina the little engine decided it was done. Wondering what to do, one of my buds offered a deal for his wrecked 2001 Chevy Blazer with 59K miles on the Vortec 4.3. With the help of an Advance Adapters bellhousing kit and some mid length headers - my little 4runner became the 4.3runner. This engine in the truck is truly fantastic. The toyota is so much faster and has SO much more low end torque. I kept all of the EFI the truck even has an OBD2 port to diagnose any trouble that may arise. I have daily driven the toyota since and have even taken it on a 1300 mile round trip mostly highway. Truck rides extremely smooth and solid - very comfortable at 70mph.
THIS TRUCK CRUSHED A KIA SOUL IN A RACE.
Anyway, theres a lot to say about this lil guy. I never thought I would even consider selling it but being an adult sucks. This toyota is not for everyone. Its got some dents from offroad use and the paint is far from perfect although that was always good with me as Ive never wanted to be afraid to scratch it. It does not have air conditioning or cruise control, but the heat works well. the drivers side window (manual windows) needs to be guided into its weatherstripping sometimes when rolled up. the front driveshaft is made out of square tube so it is very very strong but not balanced. I did this because I needed a long travel driveshaft and the only 4wd the truck really ever has seen is under 25mph. If you intended to use the truck in 4hi in snow it would need a balanced long travel driveshaft - last i checked a kit from lowrangeoffroad was under $300. the starter motor has had a few times in the last couple months where it has needed a little tap however it has been trouble free for about 2 months now - but I would plan on replacing it down the line (very accessible) drivers seat from is an SR5 truck and is very comfy and in perfect shape. passenger seat is factory DLX and is in ok condition with some wear. Other than that the truck is extremely solid and drives great. It is an absolute monster offroad and will go just about anywhere you point it. I get 18-19mpg in town/highway. I used a cherry bomb vortex muffler which has a nice deep note but is pretty quiet and has no drone on the highway. Windshield is cracked in some photos but I just got it replaced with brand new windshield for the sale.

The 4.3 engine came out of a 2001 chevrolet blazer that had 59K miles on it. I have put about 6K miles on the engine after dropping it in the toyota. Advance adapters bellhousing / swap headers. Toyota W56 transmission shifts very smoothly no noises. While out, I did every engine gasket except for the head gaskets as well as replaced the timing chain and upgraded the spider injection to Delphi's true MFI injector kit - a huge upgrade for these vortec engines. I have it running off of the factory PCM and all sensors / electronics are working (minus emissions nonsense.) The engine is fed by a walbro 255 fuel pump in the factory toyota tank. I found a small block chevy radiator designed for a rat rod that fits nicely in the toyota and keeps the engine extremely cool. 16" SPAL electric fan. New OEM flywheel and pressure plate, New with engine McLeod clutch disc. Truck starts up immediately and idles perfectly in any weather.
