1926 Other Makes Coupster M Additional Info:

There are only 13 or 14 of these known to exist, I could verify 13 through the Star and Durant Registries. Only 2 others have become available for sale since 2009 the 2009 car was listed for sale for 15,000 the 2015 car listed for sale for 18,500. I do not know the results of those sales. There is a 1926 coupe for sale online now which is not as rare a car for 30,000.
I recently purchased this car from the son of the Gentleman who built it in 1960 with a cracked block. I had all 8 valve seats replaced with hardened seats. The block was already bored .030 over so i replaced the rings. I reused the bearings as they were still good. All of the internal parts from the cars original engine, except the pistons were used to reassemble the engine. (The original engine had been rebuilt at some point, i'm assuming in 1960.) It has 10 miles on it.
The gentleman who built the car was a UPS mechanic for 30 years so it is mechanically pretty darn good. He was not a painter, or whomever painted it was not. While the body is virtually rust free the sanding under the paint was horrible. The paint is shiny and the black has some runs. This is a true 20 footer, it looks killer from 20 feet but like a 50 year old paint job up close. Each fender has only 1 welded crack none over 2 inches in length. ( done before painting)
All of the cars wood is in excellent condition with no rotting. I believe The wheels were purchased new in 1960 as they are nearly perfect. The steering wheel is water transfer painted not real wood, it was worn black paint I had itpainted.
The vinyl top and windows are in very good condition for 50 years old. The windows slide up into the roof pretty smoothly. The interior has a couple flaws but no tears in it not bad for 50 years old.
I replaced all the electrical connectors on the wiring harness and all of the lights do now work. The ammeter gauge and oil gauge do not work, I don't believe them to be original to the car.
So this is a 50 year old restoration with a new rebuilt engine. It looks like an original un-restored car so that is cool in my book. I entered the car in a car show last weekend and it won first place in the antique class. What else can I say? People love this car This could be your only chance to own a car that is 1 of 13 known to exist, once the "collectors" get wind of these cars that's it they go into private collections rarely to be seen again........
