Description 1953 Chevrolet 3100 5-Window RestoMod Pickup
Located near PORTLAND, OREGON
This truck was sold new in South Dakota in 1953 and stayed with the original owner until 2009 (56 years.) It was purchased in 2009 by the second owner in Washington state with intentions of restoring it. The truck was disassembled and then sold to the current owner in January of 2014. With 96,706 miles showing on the original odometer, at that point he decided to fully restore and upgrade the truck with modern comfort, convenience and driving in mind.
Body was removed from the frame which was reinforced and modified with a new Mustang II front end, Wilwood disc brakes and newly fabricated motor mounts. A 9 inch Ford rear end by Dutchman was fitted, along with a new fuel tank mounted between the rear frame rails and dual exhaust system.
Engine is a rebuilt Chevrolet 350 short block V8, built by Superior Engines of Portland, who have been engine specialists for 25 years. Newly rebuilt 700R4 automatic transmission was installed. This is a great combination for cruising or highway travel.
The solid body was stripped to bare metal and refinished in bright red base/clear finish by a body and paint specialist with 45 years experience. It shines! Incredible attention to detail throughout. New chromed bumpers, grille and trim were installed. The bed was fitted with new white oak wood, stained in light walnut and sealed with 6 coats of UV resistant marine lacquer. Flush chromed gas filler cap is conveniently located in the center of the bed floor. The new stainless steel floor rails were polished to a mirror shine, and painted lettering added to the tailgate, accenting the quality of the rest of the outside of this truck. A full-sized spare tire is mounted on the factory-installed mount behind the cab with a custom cover. Custom wheels were added to complete the restomod look.
The inside of the body was then fully insulated and a new custom tan leather interior was fitted with matching bucket seats and door panels plus center console. New tan carpeting. Dashboard fully re-wired with new Dakota gauges fitted in the factory holes. Tilt steering column with custom wheel. Vintage air conditioning was discreetly installed along with full stereo. This is one comfortable truck! It's a far cry from 1953, but still retains the classic vintage styling. Truly the best of both worlds.
PLEASE SEE PHOTOS AND VIDEO.
It is hard to over-emphasize the quality of this build. All work was done by professionals with no expense spared. All records and photos documenting details of the hundreds of hours of tear-down, restoration and re-assembly will be included with invoices and other records to give a complete history of this beautifully restored truck. Since completion only a few miles have been added during testing and tuning. The only reason for selling is that the current owner is moving on to a new project and needs room in the garage. The new owner will be getting a truly fresh, turn-key truck that is ready to drive, or take on the show circuit.
A realistic reserve has been placed on this truck in keeping with its quality and WELL BELOW the cost of restoration. Please bid accordingly.
WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BIDDERS WORLDWIDE.
