1978 International Harvester Scout Traveler Additional Info:

This is a custom built Scout II Traveler. Drivetrain:Originally it came stock with a Nissan SD33 diesel motor and 4 speed T19 transmission. The motor was replaced with a 4BT Cummins with a P7100 injection pump. This motor is the same as the motor in the Diesel Dodge 94 to 97 with 2 less cylinders. The transmission came from a Dodge diesel and is bullet proof NV4500 which is connected to a NP205 transfer case. The motor has a custom cam to improve power and mileage, as well as custom injectors. The injection pump is stock and has never been turned up or played with. The KDP was killed and this motor has all new gaskets and doesn’t leak. The compression is like it was when new.
The axles are Dana 44’s that are sprung over the axles. The rear has an ARB Air Locker. The Front axle was built for hi-steer and has crossover steering from IH Only North. The knuckles have been cut and turned and this vehicle tracks very well on the freeway.
This tank has 2 fuel tanks with one that is coolant heated for someone wanting to run biodiesel in the winter.
Paint:This Scout was stripped down to bare metal. The floor, tub, and inside of the fenders were painted with POR15 to stop rust. The Scout has a lot of body work and is super straight. The paint is fresh and new and the body work was $15,000 by itself.
Trim:
This Scout has custom bumpers (with which), roll cage, and sliders. It also has awesome custom rims with 35” Toyo MT tires.
Interior
This Scout has 3 rows of seat. It has a new carpet kit, and new door panels. It has a double Din Pioneer stereo with navigation. This Scout also has aftermarket air conditioning that blows cold. All of the gauges are brand new. The wiring harness was replaced, and this Scout feels modernized.
Overall this Scout is greatly improved over stock. It drives straight and is capable of freeway speeds. It can drive reliably anywhere in the country and gets lots of attention. It is just an awesome rig. A couple items are that the speedometer seems to be off by about 10% and will need to be adjusted. Also the air pump for the ARB Locker needs to be installed. I have it sitting in the box ready to be installed.
