1973 Ford Ranchero Additional Info:

1973 Ford Ranchero 500 NO RESERVE please readdetails completely BEFORE placing any bids. If you are close enough to come look at this car in person before bidding please do so. If you are not I would recommend you have some one that is come on your behalf. I will answer what I can as far as questions go. This is being offered due to a family crisis not because I don't want it but this car and a few other projects/toys are unfortunately no longer an option for me. read carefully look at the photos keeping in mind the computer does always make things look a little nicer than they are. I may also be able to trysend a video upon request.

History: This car was purchased new by a gentleman in Texas It later went on to Resaca Georgia to his nephew. until a two years ago when I purchased it and had it shipped up to Rhode Island. since then I have used it as an occasional driver during the good weather months. It gets taken out of use before the first use of road salt and doesn't hit the street again till there is no sign of salt on the roads in the spring. I have never subjected it to salty roads and it spent the entire winter inside the garage.

Engine/mechanicals It has a 302 (5.0) with an Edelbrock electric choke 4 barrel carb and Aluminum performer intake manifold I recently replaced all ignition parts including Petronix points eliminator ignition /cap / rotor / wires &coil. It has a column shifted C4 automatic transmission factory A/C that is all in tact and does blow "cool" air but does need a recharge and it has already been converted over to R134 Freon Heat works as do wipers. the radio in the dash is disconnected because I have a newer cd unit currently installed but I did not want to remove or cut the dash due to the fact that its a combination AM/FM/CB which I know was popular back in the day so I didn't want todisturb that. The engine runs great with a lot of power but it does have a lifter"tick" as well as engine "blow-by" not sure I would go with a crate engine though that's usually the easy route, or just give it the proper attention it needs valve seals lifters or a rebuild. but as I said it runs good and those repairs need not be immediate. just putting the info out there to avoid any surprises later. Brakes work great, Nice American Racing Aluminum torque thrust wheels with BF Goodrich 235 and 245 60 series tires. Recently replaced all four shocks with load handler coil assisted shocks. True full dual exhaust with flowmaster mufflers a little aggressive sounding but nothing too insane, but I personally prefer a little quieter. All lights work except for the reverse lamps which I believe to be a wire that needs soldering back onto the contact.

Body: Obviously the body is very solid for the year, I have owned a few of these since the mid eighties and can attest to thetendancy for them to rot out here in New England.By far the two worst areas onthis one would be the dent in the tailgate and the filler in the drivers rear quarter behind the wheel. The car looks good from 20 feet but the paint job and body work wereamature at best. though I can say the car is extremely solid and rust is really not much of an issue. the filler at the drivers rear quarter in from repairing some type of crease dent at some point. you can see this by removing the tail lamp and looking inside. the tailgate and rear bumper were both damaged at some point before I got it, appears to havebacked into something. but the gate is still fully functional. tailgate paint has heavy cracking. and black vinyl roof was also removed over the years. Aside from that as I said the car looks decent but could certainly use a better paint job. all glass is intact as is all the stainless steel trim. Black bench seat in nice shape with no rips, dash not cracked.rug was previously removed and floor had small hole but nothing requiring immediate attention (floor pans readily available threw Dearborn)cargo box in great shape. a few dents and dings on the inside but not rotted still holds water. currently has"lay in" wooden floor to protect the original buto bolts or screws holding it in.

It's A cool car that still gets compliments and thumbs up almost daily when I take it out. It is not perfect by any means but I probably made it sound worse than it is in this write up. It looks good, runs good stops great goes straight down the road. Itsa good starting point for a restoration or hot rod or keep it asit is for a cruise night / daily driver.

The rude and nasty rules. As I said We are currently in a situation that is forcing the sale of this and several other toys/ projects. Not to sound rude but please do your homewor, check the car out 1st and make sure it is what you want.before you bid. I simply don't have time to play around.
