1985 Ford Mustang Saleen Additional Info:

For sale is my 1985 Saleen....85-093.........faded chalky exterior, chipped paint, surface rust.....it has earned its nickname "The RAT Saleen" It's been revived, not restored..............this ones built to be driven, raced, and commuted in.
Mechanically the drivetrain currently has only 58,000 original miles........but when I got her, the stock brakes were locked, the exhaust was falling off and it wouldn't start.

Simple repairs, a new exhaust system and brake upgrades, got this old beast back on the road.
Because I don't want to die, I upgraded the stock crap brake combo to 13" cobra disks and calipers, I then scrapped the weak 7.5 with a 1998 disc brake unit fitted with 3.73 gears. Since the car was now sporting 5 Lug, I bought a set of XXR 530 with new tires.
New shocks, struts and H&R springs replace the sagged racecraft springs and failed bilsteins
I also added a front strut tower brace and a rear shock brace for rigidity.

After getting the car running, I drove it to the Saleen Nationals in Garden City NY where the radiator decided to commit suicide. I upgraded with a 4 row aluminum radiator.

Considering the engine was low miles, I added a typical Mustang combo of a B303 cam, timing chain, new water pump, fuel pump, under drive pulleys, long tube headers, high flow intake new Holley and MSD ignition.
Interior is stock, all original and in very good condition, a new heater core and the A/C is penguin approved.
The exterior is in a non polished, chalky state.......I literally only wash the windows when I take it out to a cars n coffee or a car show. Many fellow Saleen owners and show car attendeescan attest to the fact that because it looks so worn out, it garners more attention than the shiny show cars..........I will say that you've gotta be able to take the complements and the ridicule when you own a car like this.

It appears that the car had a poor quality repaint at one time, so rather than try to polish up crap, I let mother nature continue the sun faded patina. Underside of the hood and hatch is rusty, the fiberglass side skirts are cracked.

The frame and strut towers are rust free. The car is not driven from the moment winter pre treat hits the ground and will only be driven when winter is over and the roads are clean.

I have collected spotless replacement sheetmetal for the car that will be available after the auctions end for an additional cost

All 1985 Saleen specific parts are present on the car except for the radio and the Hayashi wheels

You can jump in and drive to your final destination if so desired, the car runs flawlessly.

I am not selling this car because i have to..........Lately I just do not use it and do not see the sense of letting it sit around.........for example, i have driven this car less than 250 miles in the last two years.......id rather someone enjoy the car than let it sit.

I'm sure some of you have seen my pictures of this car covered in snow........I don't have the room to keep her out of the elements. If i did, I would sit on it until I'm ready to really dig into the car.

If the car does not meet the reserve, I may still sell it to the highest bidder, so if this car is your kinda thing, bid.....it could end up being yours.

Its really a one of a kind Saleen......Love it or hate it, the Rat Saleen does steal the show.

Pictures of areas of concern will be sent on request.

Good Luck with your bidding, even though I hope it doesn't sell. :)

A $500.00 non refundable deposit is required at the end of the auction. I keep getting hammered with fees for these auctions from deadbeats so be aware, if deposit is not received, I move on to the next highest bidder.

This is not an auction to win the right to inspection.....you win it, man up and buy it......there are enough people in the Saleen community that you can reach out to and have the car looked over, no renegotiating will be considered once auction ends. Car is sold as is where is.
