1971 Dodge Other Pickups Crew Cab Additional Info:

This is a solid and rust-free Arizona truck it's whole life. I'm the third owner of the truck. The second owner had it since the early 1970's until I purchased it from him earlier this year. He was a teacher up at Northern Arizona University and was very environmentally conscious so, in an effort to reduce emissions on his vehicle he converted it over to run on propane. This was the vehicle his family used for camping and they fondly remembered calling it the "Dodge Mahal" as it was so large and carried all the family and gear without a problem. He liked the conversion to propane but felt like he needed more power so he upgraded the engine to the high performance 440 engine that currently is in the truck. This gave him all the power he needed and he drove the truck daily up until about 2 years ago when it was parked. He used to start it every few weeks but he went through a divorce and the truck was left to sit. His daughter was involved in helping him liquidate some of his assets for the divorce settlement and she put this truck up for sale. We were looking for a crew cab old Dodge to match my 71 short bed (same color as this truck) to take camping and it seemed the perfect fit. A few weeks after I bought this a 1990 Dodge cab and chassis RV with the 5.9 12 valve Cummins engine came up for sale here locally with only 16k miles on it. After considering all the pros and cons we decided to go with the diesel and so now the crew cab is up for sale.As mentioned it has not been started in over a year but is complete and the previous owner was convinced it would start right up with a battery and some propane. I told him I was not interested in keeping it a propane vehicle so I let him keep the large propane tank he had in the bed but all the rest of the plumbing is set up for propane and I haven't messed with anything on the truck since I bought it. He gave me the original intake manifold and Holley carb that he had on it before the switch to propane and these are included in the sale. The truck really needs total restoration but there is not heavy rust on the truck, just the surface rust or patina as it is called these days. The floors had some rust at some point and he had them professionally repaired and they are solid. The blue paint is the original paint so you can pretty much see what you have. The family made the headliner, seat covers etc using a patch quilt type theme and they even made door panels to go around the original ones both those have come off so you see adhesive on the insides of the doors which kind of looks like rust but it's not, just adhesive. All the glass is good with a few small pits on the front windshield only. I'm not sure if the spot light on the driver's side works or if it is a factory installed item but it is complete. Really the whole truck is complete from what I can tell, it just needs restoration or get it running and drive it with the patina look. That's about what I know about the truck. I do have the second owner's phone number and if there are additional questions that I can't answer then he may be able to help so just let me know if you have any other questions. If you know about these old Dodge Sweptline pickups then you know a rust-free crew cab truck doesn't come along very often so this is a good find for someone in the market for one of these trucks and knows their way around them. Look at the pictures and my feedback and bid with confidence. There are now warranties expressed or implied with this truck. It can be stored for a reasonable time to arrange for pickup. There is a $500 deposit due within 24 hours of the end of the auction via Paypal with the balance due within 7 days of the auction's end. Good luck!
