Every now and then, an automaker releases a car that's nearly perfect in stock form. The list is short but the 1968 Chevelle Malibu is definitely one of those cars. Gaining a following that few Chevrolet's have seen outside of the tri-five world, nice examples never stick around our showroom for long. This amazing 1968 Chevelle Malibu convertible is sure to continue that trend.

This consignment comes to us as a Chevelle, with the Malibu package...the convertible Malibu package! More mild than muscle, more luxury than redlining. More creature comforts, less of the basics.

Exterior
Butter Nut Yellow is all over the exterior and shows in good condition. All chrome and badging is shiny and correct. 14-inch rally wheels are covered with redline tires.... all new rubber. A brand new (3 month old) convertible top in black. Some rust is seen in the trunk, particularly on the spare wheel and jack.

Interior
Original to the car, black vinyl buckets, vinyl door panels, and a vinyl bench in the rear, show some signs of age. The center console is original and houses the 4-speed shifter. Dash is original and where ashtrays and glovebox meet with it, there are signs of fit and finish issues with inconsistent gaps, and poor fit. Behind the steering wheel is the in-dash tachometer, and gauge package.

Drivetrain
A rare option combination for a Malibu we see the 327ci V8 small block, mated with the 4-speed manual Muncie with floor shifting transmission. Consigner states that the engine underwent a new rebuild, and viewing the engine, it looks very clean and pristine and dressed in typical orange/red.

Undercarriage
Putting the car up in the air, one can see a disc brake conversion kit has been added. Also noted is new dual exhaust, rear coil springs, and a 12 bolt posi rear. All surfaces are rust free, and almost new looking.

A cool late 1960's bowtie designed to make headway and move the company forward from the tri five era.
