Cars like this don’t come around often, sometimes only once in a lifetime, a car with a story. If they could talk right? When I first saw this car I KNEW I wanted to breathe life back into her. Off the road for 40 years, tucked away in a garage right here in Richmond VA, where she was bought brand new. I can tell you this, I have spent the last 3 months driving the wheels off of this car and I have loved every dang minute of it. You will too, I guarantee that.

My idea when I started to fix it back up was simply this…. When I show up, I want people to know it, love it or leave it, when this car rolls onto the scene, heads will turn and people will want to know who and what just showed up making ALL that beautiful music.

Don’t miss your chance to own one of the coolest cars I have ever seen and one of the most awesome cars to drive. This car draws a crowd everywhere I bring it, it looks and sounds so good people can’t help but be drawn to it.

I would drive this car anywhere, it is reliable and ready for the road, fly in and drive it home, no matter where you live. I say this with confidence because this summer I took the car on an 3800 mile road trip through the mid west, up through the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, back down to Bowling Green Kentucky and back to Richmond Virginia. I have put 4500 hundred miles on this car in the last 3 months. It is a blast to drive and it does it in style.

HISTORY

This car is a true barn find. It was purchased new right here in Richmond Virginia and has stayed right here all of its life. Prior to me purchasing the car it had been in storage since 1977, yes 40 years. It has been owned by one family and was passed down through that family to children taking them where ever they needed to go. It was parked in ’77 because the original transmission had started to slip and was never driven again until I got the car and decided to get it on the road again and take an epic journey in the car this summer through the mid west. It has truly been and awesome experience driving this car, talking to people about it and answering all of the questions people have about the car.

ENGINE/DRIVETRAIN

1968 327 2 bolt main. Bored 30 over with flat top pistons. Crank has been turned 10-10. All new bearings to include cam bearings. Cam is big, 312-328 duration, 508-533 lift hydraulic flat tappet cam. Pete Jackson noisy gear drive, Milodon 7 quart pan. 1969 “041” 300 horse double hump heads, 3 angle valve job with matching 600 lift springs. Performer RPM edelbrock intake with a “Charlie Price VINTAGE SPEED” 3 deuce set up, with 3 Rochester 2G’s. Runs awesome. That set up is 1225.00 dollars when you add in the core charges for the carbs. Speedway ceramic coated headers. Brand new 2.5 inch exhaust dumped off at the rear with Thrush welded turbo mufflers. Sounds really good. Rebuilt TH 350 transmission with an 18-2200 stall converter (could use bigger stall), Lokar shifter linkage. New u-joints in the driveshaft, rear trans crossmember added. 3.55 gears, no whine, new axle bearings in rear. I have relocated the battery to the trunk and added a cutoff switch under the rear quarter. The battery and box/holddown are out of a 2011 SS Camaro.

BODY

Body is in pretty nice shape. It has some rust as you will see in the pictures. I encourage you to look at all of the photos I have uploaded to Flickr. I have showed everything there. I do have a RUST FREE very nice front clip for the car if the new purchaser is interested in that at an additional cost.

The floors are super nice and have never been patched. Same with the trunk floor. It does have some rust in some of the floor braces.

The car has been painted once in its lifetime. It is an original ONYX Black car with red interior, all black. It is super hard to find a real black car with red interior.

INTERIOR

The car retains all of its original interior with the exception of the carpet, I installed new carpet and I put a Mexican blanket on the lower front seat. Everything else is just the way it came in 1955. I pulled all of the door panels and lubed all of the window tracks and installed a new drivers door regulator. All of the windows roll up and down with ease. I installed a tach and a set of gauges under the dash. The heat does not work. It will need a heater core and other misc items to get it going.

WHEELS TIRES AND SUSPENSION

The wheels are US Mags 20x9.5 on the rear and 18x8 on the front. It is absolutely amazing that those rear wheels will fit under the car with no modifications at all. The rears have 5.25 inch of backspacing. They fit like they were ordered for the car. The car has been lowered a good bit and it still rides great believe it or not. It sits on it original rear springs with 2 inch lowering blocks. It has new air shocks on the rear if you want to pick it up a little. The front has been lowered about 4 inches. I accomplished this by installing Eibach lowering spring for a first gen Camaro. They are 2 inch drop springs and I cut one round out of them. Because of the high spring rate she still rides great, doesn’t bottom out and handles nice. New NAPA response shocks on the front. I have also replaced all 4 tie rod ends. It tracks straight, and stops straight.
