1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 L78 Additional Info:

I'm selling my documented 1970 SS 396 L78 4-speed. I have the factory build sheet as well as the certificate from the L78 registry. This is a factory 4-speed car with N40 power steering, U14 gauge package, & ZL2 cowl induction. It's also a factory 795 interior with 48-48 paint & white stripes. The build sheet shows the car being sold new at Sugg Chevrolet in Boyertown, PA. I am the 4th owner and the car has 80k original miles on it.
The body was restored in 2001, professionally repainted in the original forest green with white stripes. The paint is in excellent shape with no scratches or chips. The car has been garage kept for the last 20 years and has absolutely no rust or rot anywhere. The floors & frame are rock solid. The interior was partially restored; the front seat was reupholstered, the carpet & headliner were replaced, and a 3-spoke cushion grip steering wheel was added. The rest of the interior is original and in excellent condition. The car has a Painless wiring harness installed which uses the newer blade style fuses. The lights, turn signal, wipers, gauges all work.
The motor is a .020 over 454 (3999289 block) with 11:1 forged pistons & new top end using all ARP hardware.
Less than 2,000 miles on the following parts:

The car runs very strong!
The transmission is a Muncie M21 with a Hurst competition shifter. The transmission has less than 4,000 miles on it since the rebuild. The clutch, pressure plate, & throwout bearing were also replaced at that time. I don't have the original motor or transmission but the car does retains its original born-with "CKF" 12-bolt rear end. It has been upgraded with 3.90 gears & a detroit locker differential. It also has a heavy duty custom driveshaft by Nassau Driveshafts.
The front end was rebuilt and has had a recent wheel alignment. New ball joints & bushings were installed at that time. The car has a Hotchkis front sway bar as well as rear upper/lower control arms & rear frame reinforcement braces. It also has Lakewood traction bars & shocks all around. The braking system was also redone; new master cylinder, rotors, pads, shoes, wheel cylinders, brake lines, etc. The gas tank has also been replaced. To complete the "Day-2" look, American Racing Torque Thrust "D" wheels were added; 15x7" with BFG Radial T/A tires up front, 15x8.5" with M&H Racemaster drag radials in the rear. The car is turn key and in excellent condition. I have receipts for all the work done to the car going back 20 years. Everything listed has a receipt! The car is registered & insured in my name. It has a current NYS inspection and I have a transferable NYS registration in hand.
Here are 2 short videos of the car:
Since the L78 was only available as an option for a short time during the 1970 run, there were only 2,144 produced making it the rarest of the bunch. That number includes coupes, convertibles, and El Caminos. There are only 29 coupes known to exist today.
