Epitomizing class and quality with massive muscle car performance, Buicks mid-size Skylark GS (Gran Sport) featured handsomely chiseled bodywork and an all-new 400 CI V-8 engine design for 1967. Factory-advertised at 340 horsepower, the new engine featured a strong engine block with 5 main bearings, 4-barrel carburetion, and an unusual twin-inlet air cleaner with internal passages that actually functioned to direct and straighten intake airflow before entering the carburetor inlets. New F70 tires, handling suspension, optional front disc brakes, and the new Super Turbine (GM Turbo-Hydramatic) 3-speed automatic transmission rounded out these well-balanced and sophisticated performers. Speaking of performance, the 0-60 sprint was covered in just 6.9 seconds for automatic cars and top speeds nudged 125 mph. Press coverage of the GS 400 was positive; however, relatively few were produced including just 2,140 GS 400 convertibles.
A truly outstanding example, this 1967 Buick GS 400 convertible is finished in striking Platinum Mist with a power-operated Black convertible top over Red vinyl upholstery. Other highlights include a Super Turbine 3-speed automatic transmission, bucket seats with center console and console-mounted tachometer, plus a beautifully styled and modernistic Buick factory sport steering wheel with tilt. Power brakes, power steering, and air conditioning ensure comfortable cruising. The hot 400 CI V-8 engine features the very valuable, 1967-only twin-inlet Star Wars air cleaner for a great look and actual performance benefits. Performance is further enhanced with limited bolt-on upgrades including an Edelbrock intake manifold and a set of tubular headers, with the original intake and exhaust manifolds included with the sale of the car to return it to factory tune as desired. Otherwise, this GS 400 remains incredibly original and simply gorgeous throughout, riding on a set of very attractive Buick road wheels mounting period appearing Red stripe tires. A recent review by The Last Detail confirms this very attractive 1967 Buick GS 400 convertible drives great and as it should.
