1966 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 FHC

This IS a true investment-quality Series 1

It is NOT a 5-speed converted, wrong driveline, wrong color, rusty undercarriage, crash-repaired,

poorly driving or incorrectly-restored E-Type like so many out there.

I have over $200,000 in this car.

$20,800 in recent mechanical work by the concours-level shop Classic Showcase of Oceanside, CA.

(The same well-respected Jaguar specialist that performed the car's restoration.)

Approx 3,000 miles on a Nut & Bolt Rotisserie-Restoration.

DVD of restoration photos included.

Original Engine, Body and Gearbox, as authenticated byJaguar Heritage Certificate.

Correct Opalescent Silver Blue with Dark Blue Interior.

CA car since new. Orig. CA Black Plate.

Meticulous bare-metal repaint in original color.

Original tinted glass, for all windows (rare.)

Excellent body panel fitment.

Excellent undercarriage.

Excellent chrome.

No-hit body.

This is a great driving, fast and fun E-Type Series 1.

Fully Sorted. Runs Cool.

All Numbers Match:

VIN: 1E 31482

Engine: 7E 5162-9

Body: 4E 22395

Gearbox: EJ 3943

Jaguar Heritage Certificate with name of first owner: Johnson Peltier of Los Angeles.

August 9, 1965 Build Date.

MECHANICAL:

Fully-rebuilt numbers-matching 4.2-liter engine with original triple SU carbs.

New $2,850 long-tube headers by Classic Fabs of England.

New stainless exhaust.

Rebuilt numbers-matching 4-speed gearbox. Shifts smoothly and precisely.

Brakes are better performing than stock, dual-piston front calipers.

Correct chromed wire wheels and spinners.

New Pirelli Cinturato correct-size 185/15 tires (including spare) with less than 200 miles.

Tool Roll, jack, and knock-off hammer.

Original Smiths gauges, switches, controls, steering wheel, etc.

Original Becker Europa II AM/FM radio.

Vintage (circa 1966-69) Jaguar Associate Group club decal on rear window.

HOW IT DRIVES:

Engine starts right up, idles smoothly, sounds great and has plenty of power.

Runs cool in traffic, or idling. When driving on a 70F degree day, temp rarely goes above 70C.

During the time it took to shoot all the interior photos, the engine was idling the entire time (hood closed!)Coolant temperature never went above 90C.

60 PSI cold oil pressure at idle. 45 PSI hot oil pressure at idle.

Electrics operate properly.

Gearbox shifts smoothly,

Car tracks straight.

Steering is accurate.

Brakes are strong.

Excellent ride and handling.

THE SELLER:

My name is C. Van Tune. I am the former Editor-in-Chief of Motor Trend Magazine.

I had been searching for a lovely Series 1 E-Type 4.2 for over 10 years.

After looking at and driving many supposedly “restored & well sorted” cars, only to be disappointed at them running hot, having electrical and/or mechanical problems, rust, prior body damage, or just not being worth the asking price,I found this car in 2019, in SoCal.

It met all my criteria, and more.

If you have been searching for a superb looking & driving, fully restored, original CA black plate Series 1, this is the car.

I am only selling it to make way for a Ferrari that I am purchasing.

$179,900 is less than I paid for the car in May, 2019. Over $200,000 invested.

I am happy to answer all questions, send photos, videos, etc.

I can also put you in touch with the previous owner, as well as the owner of Classic Showcase, to ask them directly about this car.

In the words of Classic Showcase when they advertised the car, prior to my ownership:

“The team at Classic Showcase performed a rotisserie-restoration to bring the Coupe back to factory standards.

Included in the restoration process, the vehicle has been completely dissembled, and the interior has been removed and documented, the body has been stripped to bare metal and placed on a rotisserie, and the body has been worked, metal finished, fitted, and leaded as needed, and all body parts and chrome was fitted to the E-type in bare metal.

The car has been primered, sealed, and had base coat and clear coat applied, followed by color sanding and buffing to the beautiful finish you see today. All body parts were painted off the car separately.

All systems have been gone through and be restored, or replaced, as necessary. The transmission, clutch, and hydraulic systems have been restored, replaced, and the car has received all new rubber, grommets and seals.

In addition, the britework has been fitted, and re-plated to Show level quality.

The car has received all new upholstery, which was fitted and installed in the correct materials by master upholsterers in our Upholstery Department.

The Coupe's parts and components have been restored in the proper colors and finishes as well, and NOS parts have been used wherever possible.

Extreme attention to detail was given because of the importance of this early, highly original E-type.”
