1948 Willys Jeep Truck
Truck has been fully restored, runs and drives great. Engine rebuilt and body is in excellent shape. Clean Title. Asking 16,500 OBO
I got it from my Grandpa in 2017, it had been sitting in his shed for the better part of 15years. I went through and restored it. Cab off restoration.
Engine was completely rebuilt in 2018, new pistons, new rods, bearings, valves, etc. oil leaks from the engine pan plug (probably needs a new sealing washer) and some from the rear main seal.
Transmission was resealed but leaks of course. Goes through gears beautifully. Three on the tree
It has a tendency to pop out of 2nd gear when the engine is unloaded going down a hill. This is. Very common in Willy's transmissions and I think it adds little bit of charm
Frame was sandblasted and repainted. There were was only one cross member with rust issues and we cleaned it up and that has been fixed. New front springs, rear springs are original.
Body is not 100% original, I did have to get a replacement fender and the bumper/grille quarterfender. The rear fenders are reproduction. Cab floor panels had been done at some point before grandpa owned the truck. The body was professionally done by a local guy here in Illinois. He did a bang up job with the body. It is in excellent shape.
It runs and drives good. Has a wobble at higher speeds(above 30) and you have to keep the steering loaded. Around 25 30 is usually where I drive it. In Illinois there are a lot of potholes and the steering geometry isn't the best, so every now and then if you hit a hole right, it can send the truck into a wobble that you'll have to slow down for.
Gauges- fuel gauge and speedometer work. Temp gauge sometimes works, oil pressure and amperage do not work
Wipers do not work. I could not find the parts to get it working
Lights / high beams work. Parking lights aren't hooked up
