Vehicle Details

This Willys MB Jeep was manufactured in the Toledo Ohio plant, then was shipped to the Philippine Islands for the end of the war. It was one of the few that made it back to the United States. One of the returning GI's on the same ship as the jeep bought it from the army war department and took it to his families vinyard in California. The Jeep stayed here until the mid to late 1960's. It was then sold to it's second owner who used it to run around town and trips to the mountains. I then acquired the jeep it hadn't run for years and was not in the best of shape. I replaced the mechanical fuel pump, spark plugs, wires as well as put new tires on it as well as removed and cleaned out the gas tank. Once I did all of this the jeep started right up and I have driven it around the neighborhood but mostly I just tinker with it. I have cleaned and fixed every original part and have saved all the original parts I had to replace. The jeep is in really good shape for 80 years old. It will make a great restoration project, I don't have the time to put into a full restoration or I would.  At some point one of the previous owners put a round pipe on the front for a bumper I would taken it off and replaced it with a correct period bumper but decided to leave it. You can see from the pictures that the from wind shield is cracked but from what I can tell it is the original window so I left it in as well. I have left this jeep as original as possible. It runs but it has leaks that I haven't fixed. All are from seals that can be replaced, I just haven't. There are not many of these jeeps left in the world that actually served and made it back home and then have survived.
