1951 Willys M38 Additional Info:

Offered is an immaculately clean properly working restored 1951 Willys M38 Army Jeep. This jeep is somewhat unique as a previous owner skillfully repaired/spliced an original M38 body to a CJ3A cowl and front floor section. This jeep was rebuilt once before by the previous owner and in addition to the tub modifications, it has a CJ engine and tranny and it is wired for 12 volt. I rescued it from that owner and restored as best I could to military specification, minus the water fording system. This Jeep was well preserved for the most part, the previous restoration did a decent job but I pulled the body off and everything has been gone through on this jeep and various parts have been sand blasted, cleaned, repainted, or replaced with new, NOS, or reproduction parts. Chassis and Drive Train: Frame and drive train were in good shape only minor parts needed replacing. All new leaf springs, shackles, and shocks, New differential seals. The drive train, includes a rebuilt tranny, new clutch, and throw out bearing and new bearings and seals in the transfer case. All components were drained, cleaned, repainted, and all new fluids installed. All new e-brake hardware, and new cable, new engine mounts, new service brakes including all lines and hoses, new master cylinder, four new wheel cylinders. Rebuilt steering box and drag link and new steering wheel, new rear bumperettes, authentic pintle hook. 5 new 7.00x16 NDT tires on cleaned and painted 16" original military rims. The engine is a previously rebuilt CJ engine - runs real strong and smooth, no smoke, professionally rebuilt Carter WO carb, civilian fuel pump, new manifolds and new gaskets, all new exhaust, new distributor, new starter and alternator working fine and charging the new battery. New civilianized wiring harness all working correctly. (minor re-wire on blackout lights as blinkers and rear lights to give you two brake lights instead of one like original) New hoses, new belts, new temp. gauge, new oil pressure gauge, new fuel gauge and new sender, new fuel lines, new distributor, new plugs and wires.Body: Part original 1950/51 military M38 and part CJ3A body; original M38 grille, original fenders, original windshield with new glass with new seal, CJ hood and new tailgate, new spare holder and original Gerry can holder and can. Original CJ driver’s seat and M38 passenger’s seat, new rear seat frame. New M38 fuel tank. Original top bows, new brackets and hardware, new canvas top and seat covers (Top is Beachwood Canvas), period correct repro. shovel and axe, original correct 1951 dated gas can – not for use – has some pin holes in bottom. Rebuilt head light buckets with new bulbs, rebuilt blackout lights, new rear taillights, new repro. data plates and body tag all ready to have a serial number engraved on them. All lights, all switches work properly exception as noted above for brake light enhancement. There is no trailer plug, just a cover. Original water fording system was not installed. Has proper vacuum windshield wipers installed and working. Has front and rear lifting shackle brackets but doesn't have the shackles but they are readily available on the web. Original CJ speedometer but unknown what actual mileage is, regardless of odometer reading this Jeep is better than motor pool, almost like it just came off the assembly line. The only thing left to do with this vehicle is have fun driving it and possibly outfit it with some Korean War Era paraphernalia. Vehicle is sold as is where is. Outside of USA sales only upon previous agreement. Shipping costs are responsibility of buyer. Will work with buyer to arrange shipping. Deposit via Paypal, balance in cash or Paypal upon pick up or prior to shipping. No checks, no trades, no scams.
Note: This Jeep does not have a title. It will be sold with a bill of sale only. Don't contact me if you can't deal with buying it on a bill of sale only. Getting a title is possible through a title company or through the DMV in your state once you purchase it depending on the laws in your state.
