1941 Willys Coupe - Completely Custom Gasser Built - 11 Year Restoration - 278ci Supercharged V8 - 4 Speed Manual Transmission - Blue Exterior With "Spankys Speed Shop" Livery - Custom Black Interior - Diamond Stitched Seats and Door Panels - Only Taken To Car Shows, Never Raced Garage Kept Motors is very excited to feature for sale this 1941 Willy's Coupe Gasser. This vehicle is a completely custom, one-off build, that took 11 years to assemble. This car is is extremely clean and fully detailed and ready to show and go. While this car has been actively featured in car shows it was never actually raced. This hot rod was built in the traditional early 60s "Gasser style" Drag Racer genre, and this vehicle truly captures the spirit of these Kings of the Drag Strip! Painted in blue metallic, the finish was professionally applied over expertly executed body and finish work that shines brilliantly. This Coupe was further decorated with era-correct sponsor stickers including "Spanky's Speed Shop" completed in gold metal-flake background and accurate "A" Gas lettering. The fiberglass front end tilts forward to open up to the engine compartment. All headlights, marker lights, turn signals and brake lights are functioning and are street legal. The doors and rear trunk are also fully functional with working latch mechanisms. The front grille and headlight bezels are original-style Willys pieces. The reproduction Vintage Firestone Racing slicks mounted on American Racing Torq-Thrust wheels out back and with Mickey Thompson race radials mounted on Rocket racing 10-spoke aluminum wheels up front finish the classic look of this vintage racer. Inside the cabin of this Willys is all business with a full roll cage and dual bucket seats. The racing seats feature diamond stitching in the black vinyl inserts that match the inner door panels. The roll cage also has anchors behind the seats for racing harnesses as well. The race-inspired buckets have built-up bolsters for better support and added foam padding for more comfort on drives that are longer than 400 meters. A vintage Grant chrome three-spoke steering wheel with foam grip caps the steering column that is also equipped with a vintage turn signal kit. A set of Stewart Warner gauges monitor the powerplant's vitals along with a center dash-mounted speedometer to keep the driver honest and a tachometer to keep those shifts at the precise RPM. The only options on this car is the addition of power windows and electric windshield wipers. Under the hood sits a vintage 278cid Hemi V8. This motor is topped with a Roots-style supercharger and two vintage Weber Magneti Marelli 4bbl carburetors. An MSD ignition lights the spark and the burned exhaust gases pass through a set of custom headers that exit out the inner fenders. A set of polished aluminum valve covers add a little vintage cool to this serious powerplant. An aluminum HD radiator with twin electric fans helps keep this hot setup running nice and cool. Power is transferred through a 4-speed manual transmission with a hydraulic clutch back to a Ford 9" rear differential. The frame is a custom unit with boxed frame rails featuring a 4-link rear suspension with coil-over shocks supporting the rear differential. Up front, this coupe is all old school with a tubed straight axle riding on leaf springs and gas shocks giving this Willys the classic flying high front-end Gasser stance! 4-wheel disc brakes with custom plumbed brake lines provide some serious stopping power. A polished aluminum fuel cell is fitted out back between the frame rails and accessed through an opening in the trunk for refueling. A volume electric fuel pump pushes fuel through hand-fabricated fuel lines up to the engine. A custom dual exhaust flows through a set of MagnaFlow stainless chamber mufflers giving this hot rod a serious rumble. In case this high-flowing exhaust is not quite rowdy enough, a set of electronic exhaust cutouts allow the driver to open the exhaust up to exit directly out the headers for a "full race rumble." This Willys Gasser looks as though it lives its life a ¼ mile at a time, but the reality is this street rod has fairly pleasant street manners and is quite comfortable at cruising speeds, and easily can be driven to cruises and related car shows. Imagine the statement this Coupe will make rolling into your local Cars and Coffee with the exhaust open! Please call if interested or e-mail with specific questions. Thanks for looking.
