Description: Celebrate Veterans Day
Rare 1942 US Army Jeep
This is a very interesting Jeep. The chassis is a Willy’s MB chassis # MB 198183 (which is December 1942 production) and the body is an original 1942 # GPW 84288 (which is also Dec 2, 1942 production . The engine is correctly a Ford GPW and the head is a GPW 6050-2 c . It was nostalgically restored by a World War 2 Vetera, L Vernon Schaffe, who drove a similar jeep in Italy in 1942 . It has remained in a garage since he restored it years ago and is in a pristine, running and driving condition.
This rare combination of GPW and MB could very well be (a possibility) from the factory back in late 1942 when war had started and both contractors were building Jeeps as fast as possible. It is a well known fact that parts were interchanged at source for expediting deliveries. Incidentally, the early 1942 GPW and MB Jeeps were built using the same Midland Chassis and therefore could be factory?
This Jeep is in excellent running and driving condition. It was titled as a 1948 MB #198183 .
