You are bidding on an exceptionally nice 1951 Willys Overland Jeepster. This car has 32 miles on it since it underwent a Concourse Quality frame off restoration . The restoration was completed in 2004 for a family that has owned this car since 1954. Since the restoration it has only been used in a couple parades and was entered in the Concourse at Ironstone where it received an honorable mention. The restoration began on February 2003 and was completed in June of 2004. Over 1370 hours of labor were documented at a labor rate of $27/ hour equaling $37,990. In addition, there are receipts of the entire restoration totaling $38,000. A complete Photographic album was created to capture the entire restoration from the beginning to it's completion.
The entire car was stripped to bare metal, frame straightened, primed, painted, under coated to the highest standards. The engine is the original F-134 and the transmission is the original 3 speed with overdrive, and both were completely rebuilt. Nothing was compromised during this restoration, right down to every nut and bolt. As you can see from the pictures, nothing was missed. It even has the correct decals on the factory air cleaner.
I listed this car about 5 years ago for the family that owned it and received bids close to 30K. At that time the family was wanting more considering the expense of their restoration so the car was not sold. I purchased it for my collection last year and have enjoyed detailing i, driving it around, and generally showing it off. This car has been stored indoors since it was restored.I am now in the process of downsizing my car museum and have decided to let someone else enjoy this wonderful piece of American History.
This Jeepster is almost identical to a Jeepster that sold (4/8/2016) at Barrett Jacksons Palm Beach sale for a record at that time of $55,000.
I have put a moderate reserve on this car as I am looking to sell it and am not trying to recoup the original money invested in this vehicle and it's restoration. At this time, the only items that need to be addressed on this carare the fuel gauge sending unit needs to be replaced and the speedometer cable is dry and needs replacement. I am ordering both of these items and intend on installing them later in the week. There is also a crack in the paint above the driver side rear fender (see picture). This should be an easy repair for a qualified body and paint man. With the exception of the items I have listed the car is in superb condition and drives like a dream.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions, request for additional detailed pictures, or to schedule an inspection and test drive. I am happy to help with any shipping arrangements to overseas buyers and domestic buyers. Good luck bidding!
