1952 Willys Standard Additional Info:
Up For Sale, Very Straight Military M38 MFG 4/1952. Was in Western United States Fire Service for many years. The Jeep Starts Stops Runs & Drives. Brakes are soft and will likely need attention. Jeep has a pair of new Batteries. Fuel tank has been Professionally cleaned and Epoxy Lined. Unlike most Jeeps this has not been ruined with Modifications or Damage. You cannot find a dent on this Jeep. The ignition is Still Water Proof Military Grade 24 Volt. It has the original Generator (charges well) Headlights have the original Correct Brush Guards, Bracket's for Pioneer tools are there as expected. Jeep Shows 59,000 miles and had until recently been sitting (inside) for 5-6 years. Fuel system was serviced and Engine work was done (replaced bad Coil, spark plugs as needed, Cleaned Fuel tank, and Cleaned up Carb). Runs well Quite no leaks no Smoke, has clean oil and is and was full of Antifreeze. This Jeep was cared for. runs through the gears, shifts well does not jump out of gear. Presently this unit has off road Mud tires on Original Jeep Wheels. This is a great rig if you want a Hunting / ranch jeep.. or this would be a beautiful Restoration candidate. It was 23 Degrees here this morning Started Right up, it is running in the pictures. This jeep has the typical Rusty hat Channels, What is not typical is other than the bottom of the tool box there is very little rust in the floors, Simple patching to do in a couple of clear wide open flat areas. Hat Channel kits are cheap and available all over. Drivers seat is a correct Military Frame with incorrect seat Cushions. Passenger seat is from god only knows what and is welded to the floor of the jeep. I have not had the chance or i would have cut it out and tossed it. As with many of theses Jeeps in Fire Service this had a big roll bar affair welded to the frame out to the edge of the jeep and up and over. That has all been removed and where is was cut off of the frame may needs to be ground off a bit but noting has been cut through etc. E-bay limits us to 23 Pictures so that is essentially "it" for photos. As i mentioned the brakes work and are a bit spongy so with use my guess is they will need attention. The pull type emergency brake is all there correct complete and works well. I am not sure I Have EVER seen one of these on an M38 that works at all. Gauges work with the exception of the fuel gauge and the Water temp I am not sure of. Speedo works well it clicks off miles etc. It has an incorrect headlight switch, lights work, for the most part these 66 year old wires are pretty brittle a new wiring harness would make life easy. This is the best unrestored M38 I have seen in years. I have lost the use of one arm or I would do a restoration on this myself. I will if it does not bring descent money. I want to sell it if you are a REAL buyer contact me.. Now as some of you who know me will attest i need to add one thing. If you are one of the worlds 123,000,890 Jeep "experts" whom want to help out, do us all a favor and DON'T. None of us claim this is a 100 point restored Jeep ready for Pebble Beach. If the lock washer on the tensioner for the Generator is wrong we do not care. If you need to point out the Air cleaner appears to be from a 1953, be forewarned we are all VERY impressed but please, SHUT UP. Go back to your star-trek in mom's basement.
