1992 Volvo 240 Additional Info:
Up for auction is a 1992 Volvo 240 Wagon. This car is in excellent condition. Originally purchased because it was my step-daughters "dream car" and it was her 16th birthday gift. Now she has headed off to college in a GMC Yukon with four wheel drive, and this car is ready to find itself a new home. This is a bittersweet sale as a lot of time and effort went into making this a great, safe car for a 16 year old driver. But - we all have to move on. This car came to us as a one-owner car out of Las Vegas, and it now resides in the high desert of Nevada just south of Reno. When we purchased the car I went through it completely to be sure it would be solid and safe for our teen. New brakes, suspension bushings, shocks, tires have plenty of tread, the IPD overdrive modification has been installed. I completely stripped the interior of the car looking for any signs of rust in the floors - found none. Photos of the completely bare interior floors are available if you're interested. New moulded carpet was installed since the old carpet had all been removed for the interior inspection. The car is still wearing its original factory black paint on every panel except the front driver's side fender which has been resprayed at some point. There is no sign of impact or accident damage anywhere in this area so I suspect it was a minor fender-bender and the fender was likely replaced. The headlights are new and crystal clear (wanted to be sure there was plenty of light at night for a young driver and these plastic lenses are notorious for clouding over time). The AC compressor was seized when we purchased the car so it was removed and the pulleys have been realigned. Would be easy to install a new compressor if you wanted - but we don't have the weather that makes it a necessity. When we bought the car I did a full compression test on the motor and they cylinders all have pressure within a few pounds of each other. Not sure if the engine has ever been rebuilt - but it is absolutely strong and doesn't burn or leak any oil. This is a really great car for any new driver - or anyone that appreciates the longevity of these classic Volvos. It is a super clean example in a relatively rare (and beautiful) color combination. As you can see in the pictures, the paint is in absolutely gorgeous condition. Stereo upgraded to Sony CD player with removable face. Nice cell phone mount custom fit to dashboard. All power windows and door locks work. The car comes with an uninstalled third row seat and an extra box of maintenance parts (oil filters, relays, fuses, etc). Be sure to ask any questions you may have before placing a bid. The car is available locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early.
