1987 Volvo 240 Additional Info:
I am curious to see who decides to purchase our well loved and appreciated Volvo. I purchased this car for my wife to learn how to drive. I bought it from a Volvo Technician at a local dealer. He changed the timing belt and adjusted the valves.
After purchasing the car I put on an excellent set of Michelin tires on ALL FIVE wheels after finding another 14" stock style mag for the spare. All tires were carefully mounted and balanced with new valve stems.(EXPENSIVE)
I have personally changed the oil and filter using the drain plug to drain.
One tie rod was replaced and the car tracks straight and true and rides extremely well and is a joy to drive.
It always starts right up in all weather. The B230F motor is one of Volvo's finest. They simply run.
Transmission shifts as it should and the brakes work well.
The car does not smoke, burn oil, or overheat. The power steering fluid does not leak.
There is some leaking from the rear main seal, I believe, but nothing awful. There are some drips underneath when parked. Nothing excessive, but some drips.
The rear end could use new bushings which accounts for a slightly lower rear height(many 240s have this and it is cheaply and easily corrected if it bothers you). There is also some clunking in the rear end, nothing severe, but I want to mention it.
The heat works well but the electric blower fan for the heat makes some strange sounds sometimes. I think it needs to be lubed.
The charging system works great and it has an Optima Red Top absorbed glass mat battery (EXPENSIVE).
The air conditioning compressor is seized so the mechanic I purchased it from bypassed the compressor with a shorter belt. All of the AC system appears to be there so I would image it could be repaired.
The wiring all appears to be stock and proper.
The radio has power and makes some odd sounds, but doesn't work. It would need replacement.
My wife hit a planter while parallel parking with the right front fender(see pics). She was going slowly and it is purely cosmetic. The door opens and closes normally.
Power locks are not all working but all can be manually locked and opened.
The right rear power window doesn't work. It may be just the switch, I haven't looked.
This car is a wonderful solid marvel. I would trust it anywhere and gladly drive it cross country today. I trust it to carry my family. The 240 Volvos of this era are some of the best, safest cars ever made. The 240GL was their luxury model. The seats, while looking a little past their prime, are the most comfortable seats Volvo ever made in this era. They feel amazing.
The car is currently in Cold Spring NY 10516 with a Metro North train station within walking distance.
It is currently insured, registered, and inspected in NY State and I have a clear NYS title in my name. Serious buyers are welcome to test drive it.
I have done my best to accurately describe this car. I have sold many vehicles on eBay and often receive thank you emails from buyers years later. I appreciate honesty. Buying a car online without looking at it is not something I recommend. Please come see the car before you bid. If you do bid be ready to buy.
BIDDING IS A CONTRACT TO BUY. Do not bid unless you intend to purchase the car. It costs me money through eBay and is not good for the other potential buyers. I will delete bids with zero, extremely low, or negative feedback. Please contact me if you feel I should make an exception.
$100 deposit through Paypal within 24 hrs of end of auction. Full payment in cash at PU.
I hope that someone who needs a good honest real Swedish Volvo finds and appreciates our car.
Good luck!

I have also listed the car for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. I want this car to find a good new home.
