1983 Volvo 240 Additional Info:
NO RESERVE.
I'm proud to offer my current daily driver: a very straight and clean Volvo 240DL wagon. B23F fuel-injection with M46 manual 4-speed transmission and Overdrive. Mileage will be higher today due to driving (~50 mi/wk).
New to me in December of 2022, found here on eBay from an excellent seller - and fellow Volvo enthusiast.
Original deluxe vinyl interior in fantastic overall condition. Black dashcap installed, covered by a brown dashpad. Original plastic floor mats at all seats, all in perfect condition.
Non-AC, non-PW, factory AM-FM radio, all buzzers and warning lights, lighter, intermittent wipers work as they should.
Making this my daily driver meant I needed to make sure all systems were strong, starting in late 2022 with a reset of the odometer to correct the AutoCheck report mileage. As you likely have seen elsewhere, this was a common failure of the VDO gear/shaft fit, now functions as it should.
The most importantl update was in early 2023 with a full fuel system rebuild:
- new steel tank
- rebuilt level sender
- new in-tank pump and strainer
- new out-tank pump
- new main pump
- new fuel pump relays (2)
- new injectors
- new fuel pressure regulator
- new vacuum hoses and check valves as needed
- cleaned MAF and verified cold idle switch
- new c/case breather and relocated the flame trap (iPd kit)
- new ATF Type F fluid in the trans + OD, cleaned filter
- new 80W90 in the rear axle
Factory Bosch LH2.2 injection and factory Chrysler ignition - c/w very rare NOS dist cap and rotor/sensor, if you ever need them.
ECM was replaced in the late 1990's at some point. No issues at all.
New Conti timing belt kit and tensioner installed Dec '23, @ 191,170 miNew iPd rear trailing arm main bushings replaced in late Dec '23, good for another 40 years.New post-cat exhaust pipe, muffler, tail pipe and hangers replaced in 2023.
The OEM design passed all the tailgate wiring through the hinge, exposing the eventually-worn wiring to the elements. I engineered an alternative in early '23 using flex boots and new wiring: taillights (new), rear wiper, central locking and rear defog element now work. New Lesjofors tailgate struts installed in Nov '23.
Optional "Scorpius" wheels were sourced I had them powder-coated in spring of '23. New whitewalls, as the old tires were spent. Yes, I'll include the factory 14" steel rims and center hubcaps with purchase.
Central door locking was an option and works great. Spare black keys and even the rear storage locker locks!Clymer service manual, factory Volvo glove box manual and laminated color wiring diagram - all included.Engine mounts and new Bosch solid front rotors included (a bit of pedal warble hasn't bothered me enough to swap out the current ones), lots of odds and ends as well.
Paint is so original that it has been rubbed thin in some spots over the 41 years but still has its shine. I have never waxed it.
The front RF fender was repainted - a touch lighter and with a couple of spider cracks, but no rust. Windshield garnish rubber and all door rubbers are 41-years tired and could be replaced as you wish (iPd has all), but since these windshields were bonded to the car (no rubber seal) there's no worry for leaks. Only minor spots of rust are in the pics, behind the LF wheel and behind RR wheel, ahead of the mudguard.
What doesn't work:
- clock
- dash and right door speaker
Lots of repair process photos captured if you need to see more. All labor done by me, the seller. Clear NC title in my name. VCOA member in good standing, #32361
