I have for sale my 1978 Volvo 245DL. This is a factory AC car with the M46 manual transmission. Slick top, meaning, no roof racks/sunroof, super rare!!! This was a one family owned vehicle and a southern owned vehicle its whole entire life! No rust, don’t be fooled by the cars in the northeast (I’m originally from the Northeast ) if it was driven any amount of time in the snow and salt, there is rust even if you can’t see it…(be warned)I bought this vehicle from a man who kept it in the family. Unfortunately, in Alabama and Tennessee you cannot prove the mileage because after a certain amount of years the odometer goes exempt if it’s too old. Every single part I have taken off this vehicle has been OEM! I even have pictures of parts that were replaced around 2006 with 37,000 miles recorded! This was my daily driver for about two years and then it was driven about once a week. That being said it does have a couple of dings and dents from rock chips and just daily driving. It was re-sprayed about four years ago with an OK paint job. Almost all the bushings are factory from 1978 so it does wander a little bit. Previous owner put IPD front and rear sway bars, also IPD springs and I believe it has Bilstein shocks which are still good. The blower motor went out, I have a replacement motor for that but for those who know is a real pain in the butt and I’m perfectly fine driving it without it. The ac compressor actually still kicked on the last time I checked. The overdrive has a slight leak coming from somewhere, replaced the gasket, but it still has a drip, so I’m not sure where it’s coming from. Recent work includes a brand new clutch, clutch cable, rear main seal, and center support bearing. I was told by my mechanic that the original clutch was still there and taken out! I kept it. I also put in a re-manufactured power steering rack, power steering pump and bushings. Fuel tank was replaced and the in-tank pump with a oem 242gt pump. Evidently there was a Vin split in 1978/79 so I had to custom fit the fuel neck. If you pump gas fullbore, it’ll shoot back out at you. I just take my time and it’s been fine, I did not want to mess with it. It has the 242 GT front end on it, I installed a tachometer, and it has a flat hood and WILL COME WITH A SPARE FLATHOOD which is still at a shop. As you will see in the pictures I have a bunch of spare parts including a 242 GT FRONT GRILL AND FOG LIGHTS (very expensive) and also, a new coil, plug wires, the original wheels with the beauty rings, the original grill, with a quad round headlights, another rare part, and some other goodies. All four tires have less than 5000 miles on them. They are Hankook Solus TA31s. The wheels are very very rare and expensive Remotecs that were imported from Europe in the 80s! (The center caps alone were going for $450 plus shipping on eBay) I kept the factory radio. I also have a spare instrument cluster with the 130 mph speedometer, and also a spare tachometer from the same year. Also another spare GT steering wheel and original 242GT front braces! The car has a great sound to it, has a magna flow exhaust and it’s straight piped and has a lumpy idle. Vintage English plates will come with the car along with all spare parts listed. Front pads and rotors were replaced along with the front wheel bearings. Both tie rods were replaced and also both lower ball joints and the low and high pressure return lines for the power steering pump and brand new radiator (I had the factory radiator, but they could not repair it so I had to let it go). I have receipts for the work. I’m sure I’m forgetting things but it’s a lot to write. This is an ultra rare, super clean Volvo 245 with a ton of very expensive parts on it and I doubt you will find one as nice, clean and with low miles as this one with a slick top and manual transmission. Of course, with any of you if you plan on buying, I would highly recommend come seeing it first. You can message me through the eBay app with any questions or if you would like to come see it in person. Of course, it will be sold as is with no warranty/returns. The only reason for selling is my wife and I bought a house, and I’d rather focus my attention on it instead of my volvo. “Buy it now” before someone else does!! By the way, I will not ship it. This is local pick up only!!! I have the title in hand and also the title from the previous owner in Tennessee if you would like that as well.
