1990 Volvo 240 DL 4dr Sedan Additional Info:
1990 Volvo 240 DL 4 door sedan. Nice example of a timeless, reliable classic. I am the third owner of this car, and have been its caretaker for about a year now. Reason for selling is we no longer have the space to garage this car, as we have two other 240s.This car started life in New York, where it was sold new at Bay Ridge Volvo Honda in Brooklyn. The first owner brought the car to Staten Island, and stayed there for three years.Subsequently, the car was sold to its second owner, the director of the Queens Botanical Garden, who brought the car back to Brooklyn. She kept the car from 1994 until I purchased it in 2018.When I first purchased the car, I could tell it had been sitting for some time, so we breathed life back into it by replacing fuses and bulbs, along with seat foam in the front driver’s seat. The car served me well as a daily driver until I decided to upgrade to a 240 wagon, which I still drive. As I have been driving the wagon, this sedan has been sitting in our garage dormant, hence the reason for selling.
Overall, the car is a good starting point. It is solid with little visible rust, and runs/drives well. It is a rare color combination with the uncommon factory marked Volvo roof racks. I know there was a slight leak of transmission fluid, it needs a new gauge cluster, and the exhaust is a bit loud, but other than that it’s a great car.
Now for the legal jumbo: you are buying this car as-is, where is, with no warranties expressed or implied. I encourage viewings in person. My hope is to pass it on to the next caretaker who will enjoy it as much as I have!
