1993 Volvo 240 Classic Additional Info:
These cult classic Volvo wagons are getting harder and harder to find and this "Classic" model means this was one of the last 1,600 240 models ever produced in the U.S and was high-specc'd (https://bringatrailer.com/2016/05/22/five-door-finale-sharp-1993-volvo-240-classic/). Each one originally had a numbered badge but one of the previous owners replaced it with an oil pressure gauge. This sturdy little beauty has served as my bike wagon for the past year and in that time I have purchased around $1,800 worth of repairs to restore her into good, dependable driving condition. The previous owner had neglected a few maintenance items. What I have done includes:
-fixed an oil leak
-replaced bushings
-replaced fuel pump relay
-replaced timing belt (good for at least another 50k miles)
-fixed antifreeze leak and "Mr. Mushroom"
-put on new set of tires (warrantied for another 55k miles I believe)
-fixed one of the cylinders and got new spark plugs-put on brand new tail lights
All of these repairs were done at either Master Techs Volvo Car Experts or Larry's Performance Werks (here in Asheville where Larry is regarded as a Volvo genius). I have all of the paperwork for these repairs and ye old wagon is singing beautifully now. This car was previously owned by a lady in Raleigh whose mother drove it very sparingly when she was in town, and then before that by a very meticulous Swedish man who kept detailed records of all his maintenance (which I have).
This wagon features only 196k miles, the most comfortable leather seats you will ever sit in, heated seats (still work!), heated side mirrors, cruise control, beautiful original wheels, wood trim on interior, fog lights (I think only 1 works though), power locks and windows, a trailer hitch (bike rack not included), cargo mat, and cargo cover (to hide contents). I have been told by both of the Volvo mechanics that have worked on it, that the engine looks good for its age. I also have a few extra spare parts I'll toss in in case they ever come in handy for you. I also have 2 keys to the car.
This car isn't perfect so here is what you should know: the driver seat has some rips in it (see pictures), the paint is not perfect and is worst on the hood, roof, and passenger door, A/C does not work (have not gotten it diagnosed or quoted), battery is older but still works fine, and there is crack on the windshield BUT it is not in your line of sight while driving. This car does have a salvage title due to a minor wreck two owners ago in the front, but there are no signs of this and definitely nothing mechanical issues from it that I am aware of.
I'm not totally sure I want to sell this wagon so price is firm. My wife would just love for us not to have 3 cars in our driveway so I'm testing the waters. Still driving the car around 1-2 times a week. Please let me know if you have questions. Buyer is responsible for pickup or shipping and I will assist as best I can.
This vehicle is very similar to this one that sold earlier this year but my model has an automatic transmission, leather seats, and lower miles...but worse paint.(https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1993-volvo-240-wagon-15/)
