1981 Volvo 242 Restored Rebuilt Excellent Condition

1981 Volvo 240 Additional Info:

This beautiful well maintained 1981 Volvo 242 DL was purchased in California. a B21 four cylinder K-jet engine and four speed with overdrive transmission. California white with blue interior. The car has high mileage but most mechanical parts have been replaced OEM or rebuilt, almost total restoration. Around 1991 the owner moved to Washington State and used it to travel back and forth to California. I purchased the car from the family estate in January 2012 and used it to commute for several years. This car has been well maintained and always garaged. This is a rust free all original 242.This is one of four 240s I have at this time. I have owned 11 240s over the years and started with my first one in 1984.This is one of the nicest I have owned.

The paint is original, except for a sunroof repaint. Car has never been damaged or repainted. I have only buffed out the paint one time. There are imperfections in the paint in a few areas caused by age but still shines after 38 years. One area on the back driver’s side door and rock chips have been touched up. All the glass including the windshield is original, two chips. The dash has several small cracks pictured. The radio is vintage 1980’s and I’m guessing an upgrade at that time. I moved it to the upper spot on the dash. Radio works and the original speakers have been re-coned. Seats have been reinforced and have new grids. Carpet shows some wear under driver’s side mat. Heater motor has been replaced. This car had no A/C, surprising for a California car.

Like new tires and brakes. All new rubber brake lines. All suspension bushings have been replaced front and rear. U-joints and center carrier bushing replaced. The engine has new rings, bearings, gaskets and seals. Upgraded wire harness and all new belts. Transmission is a four speed with overdrive. Front and rear transmission seals have also been replaced. All this work has been performed in the last year to year and a half.This car runs and drives great. This is a head turner at the car shows if you’re a Volvo fan.

Brakes,wheel bearings checked and new seals.

All new suspension bushings front and rear, alignment, new tires.

Struts and shocks about two years ago.

Engine rebuild, new transmission seals, clutch checked, new u-joints and center support carrier and motor mounts. Less than 5000 miles.

New wire harness.

Exhaust about two years.

New fan motor

Upgraded seat grids.
