1967 Volvo 122S Wagon! Additional Info:
Meet Maxine. She is a 1967 Volvo 122S Station Wagon, at our ranch is Southwestern Utah. If you are looking for an absolute Sweetheart of a vintage station wagon, for surfing, camping, or just cruising around town, Maxine might be for you. She is an extremely strong runner, with rock solid floors and frame, and the legendary 1.8 liter 4 cylinder motor runs perfectly. The 4 speed transmission shifts effortlessly, and she has rare factory power brakes. We got her from the family of the original owner, who kept meticulous (fanatical?) records of every service and milestone. There are copious records and documentation, including all the original books and manuals, and emails with General Colin Powell, who was a friend of the original owner. Maxine comes with LOTS of spare goodies and parts, including a brand new (NOS) dashboard in the box from Volvo.
The body is straight. Chrome and paint are original, and therefore are patina-ed. The stainless trim is excellent, as is the glass. She has one rust spot in the passenger side front fender from a previously blocked drain, but it has not progressed during our ownership, as Southern Utah is quite dry, and she lives in our barn. There is one small spot near the passenger side headlight bezel which should be fixed, if she is to be repainted. Front fender mirrors were replaced with marker lights, but mirrors can be put back on easily.
The floors are super solid with NO rust at all. The factory carpet has disintegrated over the last 51 years, so it has been removed. We use mats, which we pulled out for these photos to show the floors.. The interior is very nice overall, with the factory vinyl seats in nice shape (fronts are covered by sheepskins). The drivers seat has one split in the outside edge from getting in and out. An aftermarket CD player has been added to the dash, which is connected to a stereo unit in the rear cargo area, which is perfect for driving, as well as camping. Headliner is in great shape, and the steering wheel, dash, and super cool speedometer and gauge cluster look and work great.
Maxine is ready to go to a new home, and a new chapter. These motors are famous for going into the Million Mile club, and she has a mere 149k actual miles. She can be driven and enjoyed as-is, or dressed up with some new carpets or cosmetics to your liking. The mechanicals are all excellent, and she has a lot of cool history.
We welcome your inspection in the St. George, Utah area, and will be helpful with shippers for out of area buyers.
Thanks for looking.
