We're selling our beloved Volvo to buy an EV. So yes, if you buy this car, be ready to average about 19 miles to the gallon. But those 19 miles are fast and smooth. In the relatively short time we’ve had this car, a lot of TLC has been put into it including two major jobs:
·Head gasket. The head gasket failed at cylinder 1 as we pulled out of our driveway; no overheating occurred. Head was machined by Olsen Engines in Nyack before new gasket was installed by an independent Volvo mechanic. See pictures of the machining work.
·Struts & shocks
Smaller jobs (all OEM/Genuine parts):
·New coolant expansion tank
·Lower radiator hose
·Distributor cap & ignition coil
·Spark plugs and wires
·Idle control valve
·Thermostat
·Temp sending unit
·Ignition Module
·O2 sensor
The car spent most of its life in California and was shipped to the mid-Atlantic region six years ago. It is in pristine, rust-free shape; the drivetrain itself is impeccable (see pics from HG job). This was its first winter in the northeast. It's really an amazing car that I'm slightly devastated to part ways with, especially after putting so much work into. I’m selling, however, because I have a severe case of climate anxiety (i.e., having an existential crisis, fam) and want an EV.
A couple non-problem problems:
·Driver’s door locking mechanism is funky; it will unlock all doors but not lock them (so we just manually lock them).
·Passenger side was swiped in its previous life, so there is some very minor damage on the front bumper and along back panel. (I added two pictures to try to show the rear quarter panel better.)
The interior is amazing -- the seats are perfect with no stains, rips or tears. All weather mats and custom carpet mats protect the floor. I found a rare & pristine armrest with four cupholders... just try finding one of those these days!
Special additions:
·Roof rack included
·Mounted snow tires w/steelies
·Pioneer head unit with Bluetooth connection and microphone
·Doggie gate
·UHaul-installed hitch w/ wiring
·All-weather mats
