1991 Volvo 780 Coupe Additional Info:
Up for auction is a very rare 1991 Volvo 780 Bertone Turbo Coupe. This Bertone was sold new at Lehman Motors in Mechanicsburg PA on 4/30/1992. The car has remained in Pennsylvania until my ownership. This Volvo is 100% stock, no modifications performance/visually. There is a carbon fiber tape along the front edge of the hood, probably to protect it from rock chips. I have not tried to remove this, but I'm sure it can be removed with some adhesive remover Mechanically, it seems as though this Volvo is very sound. It is a little cold natured and sometimes takes a couple of times to coldstart it, are usually crank it for about four seconds, turn off the key and then crank it again for another four seconds and it fires up. Once it is warm, there are no issues at all with starting. No service lights, airbag lights, or anything funny going on. The passenger power seat switch is functional, however the switch is a little bit loose. You can turn power on and off, which prevents it from moving. Both power seats work in every direction. Both power mirrors work, sunroof works, power windows work, air-conditioning is ice cold, radio works, all gauges work including Clock. The body and undercarriage has no rust, the car must have been stored during the winter months . Paint quality is excellent, above average for the year, there are some scratches on the rear trunk lid which I have photographed I do have a receipt from the transmission service which was also noted on the Carfax, July 6 of 2017 at Amco. Lehman Volvo also had it in for service on August 30, 2017 for kickdown cable adjustment and the transmission linkage bushing/shifter linkage bushing clip. This Volvo runs and drives excellent, it has great power and you can hear the turbo spool as it should. That shift to the gears excellent, no funny noises in the transmission or engine. The exhaust has a little rattle, but it seems to go away as it warms up. This Bertone example was handcrafted into Reno Italy by Carrozzeria Bertone, these conversions were done from 1985 to 1991 and cost upwards of $40,000. Through the six years of the conversions, only 8518 total cars were built, in 1991 only 418 were built. It features real Italian leather, which is in excellent shape. interior features rear burlwood trim, electric sunroof, full power equipment, four wheel disc brakes, independent rear differential in the bulletproof B23FT turbo charged an inter-cooled engine. This is a hand built car by an Italian coach builder.
