1982 Volvo 240 GLT Additional Info:
1982 Volvo 240 Diesel wagon, M46 Transmission, 136k. Color is Glacier blue metallic with blue velour interior in nice shape. Smooth running D24 6 cylinder diesel engine by audi/vw.
Bought this car about 3 years ago for a project to swap in a different engine but its just been sitting in my back yard since. So I am passing it on to someone else. I did start it every few months while I had it. I will tell you what I know about the car. I DO NOT know when the timing belt was replaced or the injector pump belt. The car starts up good and does not smoke. A little comes out but not a huge cloud or white smoke. No smoke comes out when I drive it down the road shifting through the gears either. Runs and drives well. Has A/C but seems not to work at the moment, maybe a low charge but all parts are there. The Cruise control also does not work and I have not looked into it but all parts for it are there. The overdrive or 5th gear doesn't work, if I bypass the OD relay it works, otherwise it doesn't. I will be ordering a 4th gear overdrive switch as I believe this is the problem. The engine runs a little on the warm side but was like this when I bought it and drove it home. The temp gauge is roughly in the 10 o'clock position. 9 o'clock is the normal position. Could be a thermostat but haven't looked into it. Cruise control does not work but is all there. Heater fan works good on all speeds, no noises. The dash is cracked and has many cracks. There is a crayon stain on the back seat in two spots. See pics. One small burn stain on the armrest. Two small stains on the carpet by the passenger side kick panel on the carpet. Otherwise carpet and seats are very nice. Some light stains in the rear cargo area. The cargo cover does not retract but is the early style. Comes with a spare tire with tools in the pouch, jack and jack handle. On the backside of the body panel there is no evident damage that I can see. The drivers rear quarter was repainted at one time. No huge dents or evidence thereof. Just letting you know. Nice blue velour interior with headrest pads. Now the paint. The roof paint is peeling or separating. It is also doing this on the drivers rear door. Hood has scratches and nicks on it. A paint stripe or scratch repair on the drivers door it looks like- see pics. The only damage is on the pass side doors. Has a dent crease down both doors and the fender lip just got caught a little bit. The drivers rear quarter was also repainted at one time as the paint is checking or cracking. Cant see any real damage on the backside of this panel. The butt cheek on the passenger side has a dent in it- see pic. Bumpers are very nice, no pitting or scratches on them and make the car look really sharp with this color combo which is a reason I bought it. Has Corona wheels 14" in size. Tires are ok for now but should be replaced. No cracks in the windshield. The lower windshield does leak but I have kept it covered when it rains. This is a common problem with these older windshield seals. The floorboard is not rusty nor does it have holes in it. I did a quick detail on the car and changed the oil on it. Put in Shell 5w-40 diesel synthetic oil. Drove it around and it runs and drives good. While I had it I kept a car cover inside it to keep the sun off the blue velour interior so it would stay nice.Radio works, pass side door speaker does not. Central locks work. Don't think the rear gate lock works. Car does need some body repair but overall its pretty decent and low miles showing only 136,275 on it. Its a nice color combo with the wheels and aluminum bumpers as well.If you have any questions or think I missed anything let me know. Just being up front about the car so there is no surprises on it.As far as driving it I would have it shipped due to the fact of not knowing when the timing belt was changed. I would suggest you use USHIP.COM or your method of choice.Would it make a trip? Probably but that's at your own risk and or adventure. I can assist you in shipping. I can meet the transport driver in my town and or zip code 95687 or 95688. Otherwise that responsibility is up to you to set up.Payment of $500 is due within 48 hrs of auction or listing end via Paypal.
