1980 Volvo 240 Additional Info:
This wagon has been involved with my family since its very beginning, so I have done my level best to provide top mechanical care for it during my 15 years of ownership. Chances are, if you name the part, I have probably had it replaced at some point--in fact, I spent $9,000 in the last three years alone on repairs for this car! And yes, I have all maintenance records. Its longevity and endurance have shocked everyone it has met, and it has been a fantastic (almost miraculous) traveling car in spite of its advanced age. At the beginning of 2015 I put an estimated 4,000 miles of interstate driving on it in only 4 months, and that is only one of many adventures I have had with it. I have no idea how many actual miles are on it--the odometer broke years ago. The body is admittedly worn and faded, but aside from one bad fender (see included photo) it is still very clean and straight. People still ogle it and admire it when they walk past . 10 years ago I got it onto the front cover of IPD USA's magazine. Of course, being a daily driver for 36 years takes its toll on any car, and an engine/transmission rebuild as well as a new paint job were next on my checklist--at least until now. Unfortunately, I have had to rebuild my entire life this past year, and I will no longer be able to rebuild my favorite car. It currently has a transient fuel pump issue, and I believe it needs a new water pump, but I have had to let it sit for the last 4 months because my funds are now needed elsewhere. There is no foreseeable change to my financial future that will allow me the luxury of maintaining a classic car anymore. Rather than let it sit and rot in front of me I have decided it would be better to give my car a new chance with another enthusiast. Aside from the current mechanical issues this car will still run and drive well, and it cleans up beautifully (please excuse all the dusty pictures! I have had no time for detailing recently). Please do not inquire if you are looking for a parts car. This amazing car has been in my life for over 30 years, and I only want it to go to a devoted enthusiast who is looking for a restoration project--and who will love it as much as I have. I am happy to answer any questions.
