Meet Ingid. She is the other woman. I am privileged to be the third caretaker of this beautiful 122 Coupe. I purchased it from it's second owner about 4 years ago. He had owned it since 1985. The original owner was a builder and racer of Volvos'. (and, I believe he still is) There are currently just over 80,400 miles on this car.
Originally, this car was a very pale light blue color. The gentleman who owned it before me had it painted several years ago. While not a 1965 color, it is an original Volvo color. I was told that it is actually a 1974 color. The paint is still very bright, deep and lustrous in appearance. Overall, the chrome bumpers are very nice. The photos do show a sin on the front over rider bar, and some small pitting on the top surface of the front bumper.
The interior is original with the exception of the dash pad, which has been replaced at one time. You may notice a few cracks on it in the photos. The floor sports it's original rubber floor. It is dried and shows a little shrinkage. (hey, who doesn't have a little shrinkage at 50 plus years old) It has two sets of rubber floor mats, including the original grey Volvo logo mats in the front. The vinyl seats are original. There is a sheepskin cover on the driver's seat, as it is showing some cracks. The passenger seat is in better shape; the rear seats are better still.
This summer I replaced the battery, the spark plugs and wires. Other work recently performed includes rebuilding of the steering box, suspension work, replacement of the heater box, brakes, and replacement of the rear tail light rubber gaskets. The tires are a matched set and have approximately 4,000 miles on them. I have a folder full of service records that go back decades that will be included as well. The original owner's manual is present, as well as the blue zippered folder in which it is kept.
This Volvo gets driven nearly every day, it is not a garage queen. This is a very nice driver that gets looks wherever it goes, and makes people happy, especially the driver. It never fails to start, it runs smoothly, shifts effortlessly, and stops quickly.
