Ready for new carpet. The floors are solid and the frame rails are too. The underside of this car looks very good. The engine, transmission and gearbox all look excellent as well. There is a vacuum leak - possibly around the intake that was causing a high idle so I temporarily disconnected some vacuum lines and brought the idle back down. You will need to go through the vacuum lines and find out why it has a high idle. This is such a simple engine that this is not a daunting task at all.As you can see, the body needs some love. There are some rust bubbles as pictured.Replacement patch panels are available for these sections and are not expensive.
Overall, this is an excellent platform for building your solid daily driver 1800 ES. Drive it daily while you fix it up.
The increasingly desirable Volvo P1800 is the only classic European sports car of its vintage that will run today without complaint or care for endless thousands of miles. The famous Irv Gordon has driven his 1966 model more than three million miles, making the P1800 the most durable car in history. It's a willing workhorse with the body of Brigitte Bardot.
