1974 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Additional Info:
Up for sale, is arguably the best Baja pre run vehicle ever built in Northern California. With over 30 awards from shows all over the state of California, this is a dream car for sure! I am selling it for a good friend of mine, Brian Wallentine. He's the co-owner of Wallentine Motorsports in Roseville California. There, he does full restorations of VW's as well as builds off road race vehicles that have compedted in the Mint 400, Baja 500 and Baja 1000 races, as well as other Vorra and Score races. His Class 11 race car completed the grueling Baja 1000 this last year with Brian driving off from the start line!
Brian built this car for himself, and spared no expense. The engine is a 2.8 liter monster type 4 engine built by Fat Performance in Orange California. He drove the car for around 40,000 miles, it ran flawlessly both on and off road. Last year, more out of caution, he completely tore it down for another complete rebuild. When the engine was torn down by Brian and Ted at Ted Blake Porsche Restorations in Sacramento, it looked as new inside. It was reassembled using all new seals and internal parts, runs absolutely perfect! Every moving part was either rebuilt or replaced during this latest full restoration. There are only 1800 miles since completion. The clickable link below to 124 VERY detailed photos will tell the true story of this remarkable Baja bug!
The interior incorporates off road comfort and safety as well as classy original VW styling and originality. It sports a full headliner, plush deluxe beetle carpet and door panels, and original padded sunvisors! Brian did all of the work himself, using the experience learned doing full restorations in his shop. The reservoir shocks and fuel cell are unobtrusive in the plush interior. For added ventilation, Brian installed original VW rear quarter popout windows. The personalized plate on the car doesn't go with it. He's going to build a VW Thing next in a similar style, and will transfer the plate to it.
