Item Description:
For sale is a rare opportunity to own a genuine 1969 Meyers Tow’d dune buggy built on a Meyers Manx Tubular chassis by Bruce Meyers. The engine, transaxle, front suspension, steering, and brakes are from Volkswagen. This is not a generic replica — it is a true vintage piece that blends beach-buggy flair with VW mechanicals and street capability.
This comes with an original Meyers Manx Surfboard. Bruce only made 60 of them and this was custom built to match the Tow'dster paint color. Both the Buggy and the Surf Board come with Certificates of Authenticity from Meyers Manx. These are the real deal!
The vehicle is street legal with lights, brake and turning signals. Also has a windshield wiper. Four speed manual transmission. The car drives very nice down the road. Custom surfboard racks, a trunk, engine cover, fenders, sun shade, and wind deflectors add even more features. The steering wheel is removable and the engine is chromed out to add flair with the cover off.
Key Highlights:
Model/Year: 1969 Meyers Tow’d (also referred to as Tow’dster) — one of the less common models from the iconic Meyers buggy lineage.
Title: Titled in Minnesota as a 1991 VW Beetle, which means registration and title transfer are simplified under the donor car ledger.
Engine/Mechanical: Built on VW Beetle platform — 1600 cc air-cooled rear-engine layout provides that classic lightweight, spirited drive.
Configuration: Open-top recreational buggy design — perfect for outdoor fun, dune or beach runs, or show/event use.
Collector/Enthusiast Appeal: The Meyers Tow’d started as a minimalist off-road creation from the legendary Bruce Meyers and his company, making this a recognized collectible among dune-buggy and VW communities.
Location: Minnesota (buyer to arrange pick-up/transport unless otherwise arranged).
Condition: “excellent show condition”
Body is tubular with a fiberglass tub and custom white interior.
Why This Buggy Is Special:
